John B. Crawford III
1912-2005
HENRY: Services for John B. Crawford, III, 92, were held at Bethlehem
Baptist Church in Henry Friday, April 22, at 2:30 p.m. Interment followed at the
church cemetery.
Mr. Crawford died Tuesday, April 19, at McKenzie Health Care and Rehabilitation
Center.
Mr. Crawford retired from National Trust Life Insurance Company in Memphis after
25 years of service. During his tenure, he was the recipient of numerous awards
for outstanding service. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to
Henry where he was involved in cattle farming for many years. He was a member of
the Masons and Eastern Star, an avid hunter, and a recognized marksman of skeet
and trap shooting competition with gun clubs in and around Memphis and Shelby
County.
Survivors include his wife, Scyble Agent Crawford; a son, Dr. Gerald L. Crawford
(Cindy) of Florence, Alabama; two daughters: Joan Crawford Pritchett (James) of
Martin and Mary Catherine Crawford O'Brien (Steve) of Parrish, Florida; four
grandsons: Dr. Gerald "Jerry" Crawford, Jr. (Krista) of Florence, Alabama, Dr.
Jay Crawford (Stacie) of Texas, Jim Pritchett, Jr. (Suzanne) of Martin, and
Kevin O'Brien of Parrish, Florida; eight great-grandchildren: Hannah Crawford,
Clint Crawford, Grant Crawford, and Emma Crawford, all of Florence, Alabama; Bo
Crawford and J.B. Crawford of San Antonio, Texas; James Pritchett, III and Lydia
Beth Pritchett, both of Martin; and one sister, Floy Crawford Ezell of Jena,
Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Berryman Crawford, II; his mother,
Sallie Gilbert Crawford; three brothers: Marvin Crawford, Frank Crawford and
Henry Crawford; and two sisters: Ruth Pugh and Ruby Richardson.
McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
James Howard "Jamey" Appleton
1973-2005
PARIS: Services for James Howard "Jamey" Appleton, 32, were conducted at
11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 21, at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan with the Rev.
Jerry Massey officiating. Interment followed in Gibson County Memory Gardens
near Milan.
Mr. Appleton, a certified registered nurse anesthetist, was found dead at 7:00
a.m., Sunday, April 17, at his residence.
He was born January 25, 1973, in Jackson to Jim Appleton of King, North Carolina
and Debi C. Fry of Atwood, who survive. He was a 1991 Milan High School graduate
and a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Memphis and Barry University in
Miami. He was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity and the American
Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He was employed by Henry County Medical
Center.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Mary Elizabeth
Appleton; grandparents Howard and Yonnie Crider of Atwood and Robert and Joan
Appleton of Milan; a stepbrother, Jake Fry of Oakfield, and two stepsisters,
Jennifer Yates of Milan and Nichole Fry of Nashville.
A grandmother, Margaret Crider, preceded him in death.
Robert A. Bell, III
1963-2005
NASHVILLE: Graveside services for Robert A. Bell, III were conducted at 3:00
p.m., Monday, April 25, at Carroll Memorial Gardens with Brother Fred Ward
officiating.
Mr. Bell died Friday, April 22.
Survivors include his mother, Jane S. Cole of Huntingdon; his father, Robert
Bell, Jr. of Murfreesboro; one son, Jacob Bell and one daughter, Lindsey Bell,
both of Pleasantview; three sisters: Debbie Seigfried of Murfreesboro, Pam
Edwards of Hendersonville, and Jaynie Cunningham of Kingston Springs; one
stepsister, Gina Johnson of Martin; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles Ray Brummitt
1932-2005
GLEASON: Services for Charles Ray Brummitt, 72, were conducted at 2:00 p.m.,
Saturday, April 23, at Gallimore Funeral Home with the Revs. Mike Walker and Jim
Pinnell officiating. Interment followed in Hopewell Cemetery.
Mr. Brummitt, retired from Quebec World, died Wednesday, April 20, at Hillview
Community Living Center.
He was born September 2, 1932, in Gleason to the late Homer and Mary Heath
Brummitt. He was a member of the Gleason Cumberland Presbyterian Church and
Gleason Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include two brothers, Thomas Brummitt of Gleason and Jim Brummitt of
Henry, and a sister, Jean Pochl of Gleason.
Corine Carnal
1907-2005
HUNTINGDON: Services for Corine Carnal, 98, were conducted at 1:00 p.m.,
Monday, April 25, at Huntingdon Church of Christ with Bro. Dan Winkler
officiating. Interment followed in the Sellers Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Carnal died Friday, April 22, at Huntingdon Health & Rehab Center.
She was born March 17, 1907, in Carroll County to the late Caleb and Sarah
Simpson Roark. She was a retired employee of Publix Shirt Corp. and a member of
the Huntingdon Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Raymond Carnal; three brothers: Arthur Roark, Virgil Roark and Elmer Roark; and
three sisters: Florence Roark, Ovie Woodard and Novie Mann.
Survivors include one son, Mel Carnal of Savannah; one brother, Audraine Roark
of Nashville; one sister, Addie Scott of Huntingdon; two grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.

Cloyas Wayne Webb
1939-2005
MCKENZIE: Services for Cloyas Wayne Webb, 66, were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday,
April 21, in the Cedar Avenue Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home with the Rev.
Keith Pence and Rev. Steve Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in Mt.
Olivet Cemetery with a Masonic graveside service.
Mr. Webb, retired from BellSouth, was dead on arrival Tuesday morning, April 19,
at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was a native of Gleason, born March 24, 1939, to the late Woodrow Wilson Webb
and Clara Adams Webb, who survives. He was a member of Blooming Grove United
Methodist Church, a member of the Gleason Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, and a member
of the West Tennessee Car Club-EZ Rodder. He was a former member of the
Tennessee National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Lemonds Webb; his mother, Clara Webb of Gleason;
three sons: Tracy (Marcia) Webb and Blake (Cindy) Webb, both of McKenzie, and
Steve (Christy) Webb of Olive Branch, Mississippi; two sisters: Nancy Smith of
Paris and Ferrlin Cassidy of Gleason; one brother, Joe Webb of Gleason; and six
grandchildren: Andrew Webb, Brice Webb, Shelby Hancock and Gracie Sue Webb, all
of McKenzie, and Stevi Layne Webb and Taylor Webb of Olive Branch, Mississippi.
Patrick Odell Davidson

GLEASON: Services for Patrick Odell Davidson were Sunday, April 24, at 2:00
p.m. at Sand Hill Cemetery with Bro. Gene Gallimore officiating.
The day-old infant died Friday, April 22, at Jackson-Madison County General
Hospital.
Survivors include his parents, Carl Davidson, Jr. and Pamela Faye Sawyers
Davidson of Gleason.
Robert Thomas Higgs
1932-2005
GLEASON: Services for Robert Thomas Higgs, 72, were at 2:00 p.m., Monday,
April 25, at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Revs. Jim Pinnell and
Lee Lawrence officiating. Interment followed in Hopewell Cemetery.
Mr. Higgs died Saturday, April 23, at his home.
He was born December 4, 1932, in Gleason to the late Jim and Willie Mitchell
Higgs. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a veteran of
the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Arnold Higgs; a son, Linzie Higgs of Gleason;
three daughters: Carol Pinnell of Gleason, Mary Totty of Greenfield and Nancy
Annett McHugh of Panama City, Florida; a brother, Charles Higgs of New Castle,
Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Suddeth; a brother, James Higgs;
and two great-grandchildren.
Frances L. Johnson
1928-2005
CEDAR GROVE: Services for Frances L. Johnson, 76, were held at 1:00 p.m.,
Tuesday, April 26, in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home in Jackson
with Rev. Don Barnett officiating. Interment followed in Highland Memorial
Gardens.
Mrs. Johnson died Sunday, April 24, at her residence.
She was born May 24, 1928, in Madison County to the late Jessie and Pearl Hinson
Lawson and was educated in the local schools. She was a retired route carrier
for the Jackson Sun with 13 years service and had earlier worked at the Bemis
Cotton Mill. She was a member of the Hickory Flatt United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry L. Johnson; a daughter, Jan Cathey of
Jackson; two sons, Bubba Johnson of Jackson and Lee Johnson of Cedar Grove;
three grandchildren; and two brothers, Jimmy Warren of Beth Page and Russell
Warren of Jackson.
Jerry V. King
1920-2005
MCKENZIE: Services for Jerry V. King, 85, were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday,
April 25, at Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie with Bro. John Forgy officiating.
Interment followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. King, a retiree from Martha White Mills, died Saturday, April 23, at Baptist
Hospital in Huntingdon.
He was born January 31, 1920, in McKenzie to the late Glen A. and Kathleen
Vaughn King. He was a member of the McKenzie Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darrell Powell King and a son, Joe King.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Kong King and Jimmy King, both of McKenzie; a
daughter, Jan King of Nashville; 10 grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Carroll County Humane Society.
Larry David Marshall
1947-2005
TREZEVANT: Services for Larry David Marshall, 57, were at 3:00 p.m.,
Tuesday, April 19, at First Baptist Church with Bro. Malcolm Norton officiating.
Interment followed in Trezevant Cemetery.
Mr. Marshall, a production worker for Bassell in Jackson, was pronounced dead on
Saturday, April 16, at McKenzie Regional Hospital of a heart attack. He was a
graduate of Trezevant High School and had lived most of his life in Carroll
County. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was born November 19, 1947, in McKenzie and was a member of the First Baptist
Church in Trezevant. His father, Joe David Marshall, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother, Brooxie Tate Marshall of Trezevant; a daughter,
Lori Marshall of Trezevant; a stepson, Chris (DeAnne) Mann of Huntingdon; a
brother, Jeff (Dana) Marshall of Atwood; six sisters: Betty (Frank) Price of
Camden, Carolyn (Jim) Parish and Tammy (Gary) Winston, both of McKenzie, Shirley
(Bill) Connell of Bradford, Ouida (John) Klock of Elizabethton and Kay (Dennis)
Reed of Olive Branch, Mississippi; a special friend, Pricilla Camper; and three
grandchildren, Sammie Lusk, Dustin Mann, and Kelsey Mann.
William Paul Walker
1914-2005
TREZEVANT: Services for William Paul Walker, 90, were at 2:00 p.m.,
Thursday, April 21, at Republican Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Lynn Walker and
Bro. Joseph Hicks officiating. Burial was in the Republican Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Walker, retired owner of the Texaco Station and a farmer, died Tuesday,
April 19, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was born June 29, 1914, in Carroll County to the late James Bertha Walker and
Bonnie Longworth Walker. He was a member of the Republican Grove Baptist Church
and Modern Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include a son, Lebert (Maxine) Walker of Trezevant; a daughter, Brenda
(Dwayne) Gaskins of McKenzie; a sister, Marie Cole of Knoxville; seven
grandchildren: Marsha Wilson, Ken Walker, Barry Walker, Tony Walker, Chuck
Gaskins, Karen Hicks and Stephen Gaskins; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Johnny Walker, Haywood Walker, LaFone
Walker, Orien Walker, and J.B. Walker; a sister, Lennie Walker Lowery; and a
great-grandchild.
Mildred Ward
1919-2005
HUNTINGDON: Graveside services for Mildred Ward, 85, were conducted Monday,
April 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Long Rock Cemetery with Brother Scott Carter
officiating.
Mrs. Ward died Friday, April 22, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
She was born September 17, 1919, in Benton County to the late Eddie and Blanche
Harper Ward. She was a retired employee of Publix Shirt Corp.
Survivors include a host of friends.

Wilburn Eugene Springer
1939-2005
HUNTINGDON: Services for William Eugene Springer, 65, were conducted Friday,
April 22, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chase Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry DePriest
officiating. Interment followed in the Sellers Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Spring died Wednesday, April 20, at his home.
He was born October 31, 1939, in Carroll County to the late Adrian and Burline
Horn Springer. He had worked for the Huntingdon Police Department for many years
until his retirement and served four years in the United States Marine Corps as
a military police officer during the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Brenda Cary Springer; three daughters:
Cheryl Fowler of Memphis and Sherry Spring and Kerri Spring, both of Huntingdon;
two sons: Kent Springer and Jeff Springer, both of Huntingdon; and one sister,
Loretta Boyd of Huntingdon.
Sammie Lee Humphrey
1914-2005
CEDAR GROVE: Services for Sammie Lee Humphrey, 91, will be held at 3:00
p.m., Wednesday, April 27, at Bodkin Funeral Home. Interment will follow in
Hickory Flat Cemetery.
Mrs. Humphrey died Sunday, April 24, at her residence.
She was a member of the Hickory Flat United Methodist Church. She was born April
15, 1914, to the late John and Fannie Holder and was the tenth of eleven
children.
Survivors include one brother, Warren Holder of Jackson; three grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the

MCKENZIE: Dorothy Scott, 75, died early Tuesday morning, April 26 at
