Elizabeth Grace Harris Barlow
1934-2005
MCKENZIE: Services for Elizabeth Grace Harris Barlow, 70, were at 2 p.m.
Monday, January 24, at McKenzie Church of Christ, with Bro. Jim Roberts
officiating. Burial was in Carroll Memorial Gardens. Brummitt Funeral Home was
in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Barlow, a homemaker, former co-owner of and advertising salesperson for The
McKenzie Banner, died Sunday, January 23, at McKenzie Health Care Center.
She was born July 3, 1934, in Wildersville, to the late Odell Thomas Harris and
Albert Lee Harris. She was a member of the McKenzie Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Karl F. Barlow; two daughters, Kristi (Mark)
Oakley of Kingston Springs, and Robin (Jeff) Thompson of Henry; a sister, Ruth
(Ralph) Bucy of McKenzie; a sister-in-law, Faye Harris of McKenzie; and five
grandchildren: Kristen Mann, Alliyah Thompson, Chandler Oakley, Carter Oakley
and Henry Oakley.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James A. Harris, and a sister, Onell
Bannister.
Chester Henry Rigsby
1918-2005
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Chester Henry Rigsby, 87, of Huntingdon died Monday, January
24, at his home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 26, at 2:00 p.m. in the
chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Sellers Hill
Cemetery. Bro. Dan Winkler will officiate the service.
Mr. Rigsby was born January 18, 1918 in Carroll County to the late Leonard
Roscoe Rigsby and Ora (Scott) Rigsby. He was a retired supervisor for the
Nashville Electric Service, a World War II Army veteran, and a member of the
Huntingdon Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma
Pauline Rigsby, who died August 19, 1998; one brother, Carl Rigsby; and one
sister, Virgie Fry.
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Beasley (Charlie) of Huntingdon, and
Connie Dotterer of Nashville; two sons, Kelly Rigsby (Fran) of Sandwich,
Illinois, and Randall Rigsby (Esther) of Goldsboro, North Carolina; two sisters,
Iona Lewis of Berwyn, Illinois, and Eler Montieth of Bradenton, Florida, and one
brother, John Rigsby of Bemis. He also leaves twelve grandchildren and eighteen
great-grandchildren.
Laborn Parker
1916-2005
HUNTINGDON: Mr. Laborn Parker, 88, of Huntingdon, died Friday, January 21,
at the Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 25, at 1:00 p.m. at the
Parker's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church
cemetery. Rev. Felix Tuggles officiated the service.
Mr. Parker was born November 20, 1916 in Carroll County to the late Felix and
Ruby (Staton) Parker. He was called into the ministry in his elderly life and
pastored the Christ Baptist Church in Camden. He was preceded in death by one
sister, Roxie Harris.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Katherine Parker; one daughter, Lula Mae
Melton (Paul) of Wildersville; one son, James A. Parker (Onita) of Huntingdon;
six grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins,
and friends.
Iris Coleman Traywick
1923-2005
HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA: Services for Iris Coleman Traywick, 81, were at 1 p.m.
Saturday, January 22, at Brummitt Funeral Home. Burial was in McLemoresville
Cemetery.
Mrs. Traywick, a homemaker, died Monday, January 17, at her residence.
She was born September 19, 1923, to the late Mattie Barker Coleman and Jamie
Samuel Coleman.
Survivors include 3 daughters; Martha Troutman, of Paducah, Kentucky and Lyn
Vess and Freda Browning, both of Huntsville, Alabama; two brothers, Gordon
Coleman of McKenzie and Horace Ray Coleman of Huntingdon; a sister, Ray Wilodean
Coleman of Huntingdon; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe David Traywick, and a brother,
Billy Coleman.
Calvin Thomas Allen
1925-2005
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: World War II Navy veteran Calvin Thomas Allen, 79, died
Tuesday, January 18, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Mr. Allen was a
native of Obion County. He moved to Paducah in 1951 after being discharged from
the Korean conflict. He was a retired cement mason.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Myrtle Mae Morris Allen; a daughter, Julia
Yvonne Allen Mustion; a granddaughter, Shannan Dawn Winnett Griggs; and a
great-granddaughter, Hannah-Marie Dawn Griggs. Mr. Allen was preceded in death
by his parents, John William Allen and Julia Bell Reynolds Allen, and ten
siblings.
McKenzie Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Howard C. Cooper
1937-2005
HOLLOW ROCK: Mr. Howard C. Cooper, 67, of Hollow Rock, died Thursday,
January 20, at the Life Care Center in Bruceton.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 22, at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Chase
Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Prospect Cemetery in Hollow Rock. Arzell
Douglas officiated the service.
Mr. Cooper was born August 27, 1937, in Carroll County, to the late William Doye
Cooper and Euphia Gladys (Crews) Cooper. He was a retired factory worker for the
Henry I. Siegel Company, an avid fisherman, and loved playing baseball and many
other sports. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church in Hollow Rock.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Lou (Allen) Cooper; a daughter, Susan Jean
Montgomery of Lexington; a son, Randy Lynn Cooper of Camden; a sister, Barbara
(Elvis) Melton of Huntingdon; a brother, Weldon Cooper of Hollow Rock; and four
grandchildren.
Alan Jeffrey "Jeff" Parker
CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA: Former Henry Countian, Alan Jeffrey Parker, 51, of Cape
Coral, Fla., died December 30 after a long bout with cancer.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 22, at First Baptist
Church in Paris, where he was a member.
Parker was the son of Robert W. and Charleene Parker of McKenzie.
He was a graduate of Henry County High School and Murray State University.
At the time of death, he was employed with AFSM (Association for Services
Management) International in Fort Myers, Florida.
He had served as district executive for the West Tennessee Area Council of the
Boy Scouts of America. After moving to Florida in 1984, he was senior district
executive with BSA's South West Florida Council at Fort Myers.
In addition to his parents, he leaves a brother, Joe R. Parker of Virginia.
The family requests memorials be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle,
Fort Myers, Florida, 33908, or the charity of the donor's choice.
Barbara Jean Andres
1929-2005
PARIS: Barbara Jean Andres, 76, died Wednesday, January 19, at Henry County
Medical Center.
The body was cremated.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 20, at Ridgeway Funeral
Home.
Born, Jan 1, 1929, in Floral Park, New York, she was the daughter of Joseph
Ralph Hamilton and Thelma Gatje Hamilton.
She was married on June 14, 1949, to William Wilcott Andres, Jr., who died July
2, 2002.
Mrs. Andres was a homemaker. She was a member of the Congressional Church in
Milburn, Michigan, and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary,
She leaves four sons; William Jeff (Carla) Andres, Donald Wayne (Lidia) Andres
and Michael Lee (Kellie) Andres, all of Henry, and Scott Andres of Paris; one
daughter, Candace (Charles) Diemer of Driftwood, Texas; nine grandchildren; and
three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Hamilton Andres.
Ralph W. Tucker
1919-2005
SPRINGVILLE: Ralph W. Tucker, 85, died Monday, January 17 at Vanderbilt
Medical Center in Nashville.
Services were at 2 p.m., Friday, January 21, at McEvoy Funeral Home. Burial was
in Hillcrest Cemetery.
He was married Sept. 30, 1942, to the former Dorothy Davis, who survives.
Born June 22, 1919, in Oak Hill, West Virginia, he was the son of Patrick and
Maggie Tucker, both deceased.
Tucker worked as a commercial bus driver in Chicago. He was a member of Fairview
Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran.
He also leaves two sons: Ralph Gary Tucker of Springville and Gene (Jerri)
Tucker of Henry;
One daughter: Donna Calvert of Chicago; three grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.
Raymond A. Ferry
1928-2005
Funeral mass for Mr. Raymond A. Ferry, age 76, was Monday, January 24, at 11
a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Paris, with Father Victor with the Holy
Cross Catholic Church in Paris officiating. Rosary was Sunday evening, at 7:00
p.m. at McKenzie Funeral Home. Entombment will be Wednesday, January 26, at
11:00 a.m., in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Massillon, Ohio.
Mr. Ferry, a retired product engineer for Republic Builders, died Friday,
January 21, at the Henry County Medical Center. He was born in Canton, Ohio,
October 8, 1928, to the late Nicholas Ferry and Julia Fogel Ferry. Mr. Ferry was
a communicant of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Paris and was a 4th Degree
Knights of Columbus in Paris and a veteran of the United States Army during the
Korean War era.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Rose Ferry; a son, Chip Ferry of Memphis; a
daughter, Beth McClure of Decatur, Illinois; and a brother Edward J. Ferry of
Louisville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Nicholas ferry, Jr., and a
sister, Barbara Weaver.
McKenzie Funeral Home was charge of the arrangements.
Frederick Gilbert Hart
1946-2005
MCKENZIE: Mr. Frederick Gilbert Hart, 58, formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, died
Monday, January 17, at his residence. His body was cremated. Brummitt Funeral
Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hart, a gun fighter in Arizona for the Shriner's Children's Hospital, was
born January 20, 1946, in Floris, Iowa, to the late Henry Kelsey Hart and
Elizabeth Neddler Hart.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Earls Hart; a step-son, Adam Stone of Gleason;
a step-daughter, Shannon Stone of Huntingdon; a brother, Jack Hart of Des
Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Freda Riley of Des Moines, Iowa and Martha Davidson
of Newton, Iowa; two step-grandchildren; fourteen nieces and nephews, two from
McKenzie (Patty Hutton and Jason Schlampp); and twenty-two great-nieces and
nephews.
Wayne Wheat
PHILIPPINES: Wayne Wheat, 64, died Friday, January 14. He was the son of the
late Lee Wheat and Effie Wheat. He was retired from the Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Wheat; two children, John Wheat and Jennifer
Wheat, both of the Philippines; a brother, Mac Wheat of McKenzie; four sisters:
Jessie Cude and Lucille Blaylock of McKenzie and Louise Crider and Lois Hampton
of Huntingdon, and several nephews and nieces.
Burial was in the Philippines in Malino.
Linda Faye Kemp
1958-2005
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Linda Faye Kemp, 46, died Friday, January 21, at the
Baptist Memorial Hospital. Her body was cremated.
Mrs. Kemp was born December 8, 1958, in Pontiac, Michigan. She was a employee of
Jim Adams, IGA. She was preceded in death by two sons, Dakota Kemp and Toby
Kemp, and a brother, Vincent Loji.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Joe Kemp, Sr., of Camden; her parents,
Robert George Parker of Clair, Michigan and Eura Ann Thomason Parker of Sterling
Heights, Michigan; two daughters, Lisa Bitner and Felicia Bitner, both of
Huntingdon; two sons, Bobby Kemp and Vincent Kemp, both of Huntingdon; three
sisters, Barbara Parker, Karen Parker Rosehek and Jean Parker, all of Michigan;
a brother, Donnie Parker of Michigan; and three grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ruth Marie Rich Johnson
1914-2005
HUNTINGDON: Mrs. Ruth Marie Rich Johnson, 90, died Thursday, January 20, at
the Life Care Center in Bruceton.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the
Chapel of Dilday Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Davis Chapel Cemetery.
Brother Phillip Halter officiated the services.
Mrs. Johnson was born June 11, 1914, in Carroll County, to the late Clarence
Jackson Rich and Maggie Tosh Rich. She was also preceded in death by her
stepmother, Tessie Byars Rich; her husband, Edwin (Edd) Carl Johnson, who died
in March 1986; and five brothers and sisters: Johnnie Louise Beal, Ray Rich,
Raymond Rich, C.J. Rich and Billy Rich. She was a member of the Bethel
Missionary Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Natalie Shoppe.
She is survived by a son, Bruce Allen (Patricia) Johnson, Sr., of Huntingdon; a
daughter, Gilda Marie (Edgar) Dooley of Memphis; eight brothers and sisters:
Frances Rich Carter and Peggy Rich Pruitt, both of Huntingdon, Coy Rich oand
Travis Rich, both of McKenzie, Gaylon Rich, Garlon Rich, and Don Rich, all of
Huntingdon, and Faye Rich Chandler of Adamsville; three grandchildren; one
great-grandson; two step great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Roxie Imogene Belew
1919-2005
TREZEVANT: Services for Roxie Imogene Belew, 85, were at 2 p.m. Sunday,
January 23, at Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant with Bro. Richard Allen
officiating. Burial was in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Belew, a homemaker, died Friday, January 21, at her granddaughter's
residence.
She was born December 19, 1919, in Trezevant, to the late Odie Galloway and
Ellie Crocker Galloway. She was a member of Pilgrim's Rest Presbyterian Church
in McKenzie.
Survivors include two sons, James David (Donna) Belew and Sherrill Brown Belew,
both of Trezevant; two daughters, Joyce (Randy) Belew Luter of Memphis and
Modene Lay of Hohenwald; fourteen grandchildren: Sherrill Belew, Jr., William
Franklin Belew, Crystal Dawn Tummins, April Diana Agent, Dana Jean Belew, Jamie
Devon Mills, Tanya Lynn Belew, Roxie Ann Belew, Johnny Ray Lay, Mary Ann Bush,
Robert David Lay, Bobby Lay, Bennie Lay, and Dorothy Belew; and fourteen
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Brown Belew; two sons, Jack
Belew and Jerry Belew; two brothers, Felix Galloway and Willard Malone Galloway;
and two sisters, Violet Galloway Anacker and Jewel Galloway McGhee.
James 'Russell' Pearson
1945-2005
HUNTINGDON: Services for James 'Russell' Pearson, 60, were at 1 p.m. Friday,
January 21, at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Yuma with the Rev. Ivey
Jamison officiating. Burial was in Humble Cemetery in Huntingdon.
Mr. Pearson, a retired sergeant with the Huntingdon Police Department for
twenty-three years, died Monday, January 17.
He was born March 1, 1945 in Carroll County to the late Ben and Coetta Pearson.
He was a member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the senior
choir and male choir.
Survivors include his wife, Lou Evelyn Pearson; a brother, Lender Harold
Pearson; a sister, Carla Consuella Parker; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and
nephews.
Peoples Funeral Home in Lexington was in charge of the arrangements.
Beulah Mae Davis
1927-2005
TREZEVANT: Services for Beulah Mae Davis, 77, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday,
January 26, at Brummitt Funeral Home with Chaplain Dewayne Thomas officiating.
Her body was cremated.
Mrs. Davis, a homemaker, died Saturday, January 22, at her residence.
She was born May 10, 1927 in Soldier Summit, Utah to the late Ralph Denere
Shepard and Ella Mae Fouse Shepard.
Survivors include two sons, Edward R. Davis of Detroit, Michigan, and John E.
Davis of Fair Oaks, California; two daughters, Susan Adkins of McKenzie and
Patricia Davis of Sacramento, California; a brother, Jack Shepard of West
Jordan; two sisters, Carma Kepler and Barbara Price, both of Citrus Heights,
California; eleven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1
great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be at Brummitt Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and
Wednesday, 9 a.m. until service time. |
