NASHVILLE - The Tennessee National
Guard's 251st Military Police Company,
composed of soldiers from Lexington, Bolivar
and Savannah, received mobilization orders
effective Saturday, December 8.
Upon completion of administrative and
logistics operations, the West Tennessee
Guardsmen will travel to Ft. Dix, New
Jersey, for an unspecified period of time
where they will undergo specialized training
and preparation for deployment overseas.
The mobilization involves 124 soldiers: 24
from Headquarters Company in Lexington, 50
from Detachment 1 in Bolivar and 50 from
Detachment 2 in Savannah.
The MP Company is being deployed in support
of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Since September 11, 2001, more than 12,000
have deployed out of a total of 14,000
soldiers and airman in the Tennessee
National Guard. That number
includes many who have volunteered for
second and third tours of duty in Iraq or
Afghanistan. |
