A motorcycle accident claimed the life of
a 40-year-old Trezevant man December 11 at
4:00 p.m. on State Route 77, eight miles
south of Paris.
Leon Clay Triplett, Jr. of 10 Bryant Street
was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson FLF
motorcycle southbound on State Route 77 when
the accident occurred, according to Trooper
Michael Killion.
A yellow dog belonging to J. Jessie Junior
of 2395 Loan Lake Road, Paris ran into the
path of the motorcycle and Triplett was
unable to avoid striking the dog. He lost
control and the motorcycle turned onto its
side and slid. Triplett and the motorcycle
came to a stop in the right lane of the
road. The dog also did not survive the
accident.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene
of the accident.
Mr. Triplett was a former CNC operator for
Tower Automotive in Milan. He was a member
of McLemoresville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Hyde
Triplett of Trezevant; two daughters, Tosha
(Rick) Coleman and Melissa Smothers, both of
Trezevant, a son, Jonathan Clay Triplett of
Trezevant, his mother and step-father,
Gloria Argo Cates and Jackie Cates of
Camden; two brothers, John Triplett and
Ronnie Triplett, both of Trezevant; his
paternal grandmother, Laverne Argo of
Trezevant; his maternal grandparents, Johnny
and Mary Bradley of Weirsdale, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon
Clay Triplett Sr.; his step-father, Harold
Argo, and a brother, Robert Triplett, and
his paternal grandfather, Haywood Argo.
