Leon C. Triplett, Jr.

A motorcycle accident claimed the life of a 40-year-old Trezevant man December 11 at 4:00 p.m. on State Route 77, eight miles south of Paris.

Leon Clay Triplett, Jr. of 10 Bryant Street was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson FLF motorcycle southbound on State Route 77 when the accident occurred, according to Trooper Michael Killion.

A yellow dog belonging to J. Jessie Junior of 2395 Loan Lake Road, Paris ran into the path of the motorcycle and Triplett was unable to avoid striking the dog. He lost control and the motorcycle turned onto its side and slid. Triplett and the motorcycle came to a stop in the right lane of the road. The dog also did not survive the accident.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Mr. Triplett was a former CNC operator for Tower Automotive in Milan. He was a member of McLemoresville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shannon Hyde Triplett of Trezevant; two daughters, Tosha (Rick) Coleman and Melissa Smothers, both of Trezevant, a son, Jonathan Clay Triplett of Trezevant, his mother and step-father, Gloria Argo Cates and Jackie Cates of Camden; two brothers, John Triplett and Ronnie Triplett, both of Trezevant; his paternal grandmother, Laverne Argo of Trezevant; his maternal grandparents, Johnny and Mary Bradley of Weirsdale, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Clay Triplett Sr.; his step-father, Harold Argo, and a brother, Robert Triplett, and his paternal grandfather, Haywood Argo.
