Thieves struck two Bruceton businesses
within eight days, taking merchandise from
one and a vehicle from another, according to
Chief Ronnie Stewart. Marty Batte owns both
Fashions & Fabrics clothing warehouse at
30192 Broad Street and M & M Classics at
30519 Broad Street, where the thefts
occurred.
On November 18, a person or persons broke
into the clothing warehouse and took 14
pairs of jeans, sizes 32 to 36, and three
sweatshirts in assorted sizes. Entrance was
gained through a sliding garage door by
forcing or kicking the door off its tracks.
Burglars then pushed the door in and crawled
through into the building, according to
Stewart. Once inside, a 96-inch light bulb
was removed from a ceiling receptacle, so
that light would not reflect to the outside.
The bulb will be checked for fingerprints,
said Stewart.
Value of the missing merchandise is $146.00,
while damage to the door was estimated at
$50.00.
On November 26, thieves struck again at M &
M Classics, taking a 1992 red Jeep Wrangler
from the car lot. Batte stated he last saw
the Jeep at 7:00 p.m. on that date and
discovered it missing on the morning of
November 27. Value of the car is $3,500.
The vehicle is described as a 5-speed,
4-cylinder vehicle with 165,000 miles. The
car has a cloth top, is gray in color, and
has a wooden console. The vehicle also had a
set of Jeep Cherokee chrome spoke wheels,
with Jeep imprinted on all the center hub
caps. A black grill brush guard is attached
to the front bumper.
A BOLO (Be On Look Out) was issued by
Carroll County Sheriffs Department for the
vehicle, which is believed to have traveled
along Highway 114 South.
