Coaches' Code of Ethics
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my
players ahead of a personal desire to win.
- I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the
large range of emotional and physical development for the same
age group.
- I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my
players.
- I will promise to review and practice the basic first aid
principles needed to treat injuries of my players.
- I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and
challenging for all my players.
- I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and
sportsmanship to all my players
- I will provide a sports environment for my team that is free
of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will refrain from their
use at all youth sports events.
- I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that I
coach, and I will teach these rules to my players.
- I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for each of
the skills that I teach.
- I will remember that I am a youth sports coach, the game is
for children and not adults, and winning is not the most
important result.
Parents' Code of Ethics
- I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care, and
encouragement for my child participating in youth sports by
following this Parents' Code of Ethics Pledge.
- I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating
positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at
every game, practice, or other youth sports event.
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my
child ahead of a personal desire to win.
- I will insist that my child play in a safe and healthy
environment.
- I will support coaches and officials working with my child,
in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for
all.
- I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free
of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and will refrain from their use
at all youth sports events.
- I will remember that the game is for youth—not
for adults.
- I will do my very best to make youth sports fun for my
child.
- I will ask my child to treat other players, coaches, fans,
and officials, with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or
ability.
- I promise to help my child enjoy the youth sports experience
by doing whatever I can, such as being a respectable fan,
assisting with coaching, or providing transportation.
- I will require that my child's coach be trained in the
responsibilities of being a youth sports coach and that the
coach upholds the Coaches' Code of Ethics.
Players' Code of Ethics
- I hereby pledge to be positive about my youth sports
experience and accept responsibility for my participation by
following this Players' Code of Ethics Pledge.
- I will encourage good sportsmanship from fellow players,
coaches, officials and parents at every game and practice by
demonstrating good sportsmanship.
- I will attend every practice and game that I can, and will
notify my coach if I cannot.
- I will expect to receive a fair and equal amount of playing
time.
- I will do my very best to listen and learn from my coaches.
- I will treat my coaches, other players, officials and fans
with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or abilities and I
will expect to be treated accordingly.
- I deserve to have fun during my sports experience and will
alert parents or coaches if it stops being fun!
- I deserve to play in an environment that is free of drugs,
tobacco, and alcohol and expect adults to refrain from their use
at all youth sports events.
- I will encourage my parents to be involved with my team in
some capacity because it's important to me.
- I will do my very best in school.
- I will remember that sports are an opportunity to learn and
have fun.
McKenzie Parks and Recreation Department requires all
parents/guardians, coaches , and players involved in any sport to
sign this Code of Ethics to participate in any City of
McKenzie-sanctioned sport. This form should be signed at the time of
registration and returned prior to practice or play of the
respective sport.

Code of Ethics Policy
Violation of the Coaches, Parents or Players Code of Ethics will
be dealt with in the following manner:
McKenzie League Board Officials and the McKenzie Park Director
have the authority to immediately suspend anyone in violation of
this Sports Code of Ethics for a one (1) day period at the time of
the related incident. The Board of the respective sport will
immediately meet on the issue following the one (1) day suspension
and may decide to notify the individual of additional days of
suspension for up to one (1) week.
The League Board Officials will meet within the one (1) week
suspension to determine if the incident warrants additional sanction
for a period up to one (1) year. The one week suspension and
additional one year sanction will be reported to the Park and
Recreation Board and the City of McKenzie.
The League Board Officials or Parks Director will notify the Park
and Recreation Board and the City of McKenzie in writing within two
(2) days of the suspension.
The individual may appeal the matter before the Parks and
Recreation Advisory Board. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
will then make a recommendation to the City Council and the Mayor of
McKenzie as to further action.
Explanation of Penalties
One Week Suspension
The League Board of that sport will discuss and have in place an
Action Plan for handling such issues. The first offense will be
directed to the Board of that sport. The penalty may vary depending
on the issue brought before the League Board. The penalty must be
reported to the Park and Recreation Advisory Board and the Parks
Director in writing within two (2) days.
In the event that an Action Plan by the League Board is not
established the parties will be suspended for one week (7days) for
any involvement with the sport that the violation occurred. The
penalty must be reported to the Park and Recreation Board and the
Parks Director in writing within two (2) days.
One Year Suspension
1) The respective League Board Officials will submit its
recommendation of penalty to the Park and Recreation Board and Parks
Director in writing within two (2) days of their decision.
2) The Park and Recreation Board will make a Formal
Recommendation to the Mayor and Board of Councilmen of the City of
McKenzie.
3) The party in violation of the Code of Ethics will be notified
by letter from the Mayor of McKenzie and the Parks Director of the
one (1) year suspension defining the penalty and the action that was
taken.
Any Violent, Verbal Threatening Behavior, or Physical Contact
will result in an Automatic Suspension for a period of one (1) year,
with the incident being reported to the McKenzie Police Department.
