Mary Winkler, Darrell Pillow on Channel 5 Thursday Night (from the NewsChannel5.com Web site)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It's a case that gained national headlines; Mary Winkler was convicted of shooting her minister husband. Considering that - it may surprise you Winkler has since begun dating.

Winkler has a boyfriend, and he's declined all television interviews - until now. Darrell Pillow spoke exclusively with NewsChannel 5's Nick Beres.

Pillow told Beres that he and Winkler are in a relationship, but it is on hold.

The couple took a break while Winkler pursues custody of her three children, but Pillow said he and Winkler are close. Pillow hopes the two will soon pick up where they left off. As it is, the couple dated for about two months.

Pillow met Winkler after the trial. Winkler worked at Pillow's brother's dry cleaners in McMinnville.

"I saw interest in Mary and Mary saw interest in me. There's nothing wrong with a man or woman just being together," Pillow said.

So, why is Pillow speaking out?

Pillow wants people to know the private side Winkler, something beyond what was learned about her to this point. Pillow wants to share the private side of Winkler few have seen.

What Pillow has to say is very interesting, but what does Winkler have to say about the relationship?

Winkler admits the two had a relationship - that they even talked about marriage.
