MCKENZIE, TN – The city of McKenzie will
be honored this Saturday during pre-game
festivities of the Bethel Wildcat football
game against rival Lambuth University
scheduled for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
“The city of McKenzie has long been a
friend to Bethel College,” said President
Bob Prosser. “But there have been some
special contributions during the past months
for which we especially want to publicly
thank them.
“They were instrumental in helping to
install a walking bridge that connects our
students in Wildcat Cove Apartments to
College Drive. This was especially
meaningful to Bethel and its students
because they now have a convenient and safe
means for getting from Wildcat Cove to
campus and to the downtown area. “And the
recent completion of the sidewalk along
College Drive from the downtown area all the
way to the Bethel College tennis courts and
the city park is also very meaningful to our
students as well,” said Prosser. “They can
safely make their way to our football
stadium, our soccer fields and to our tennis
courts. The new sidewalks are also being
used by many of our students as a means for
exercise. Many of them use the walks to run
and work out.” Prosser said the addition
last week of a large Bethel College logo on
the street at the intersection of College
Drive and Cherry Street was yet another
remarkable indicator of McKenzie’s continued
support of Bethel.
“Wow! The new logo is beautiful, and we
couldn’t be more proud that the city took
the initiative to have this completed. A
special thanks goes to Houston Construction
of Nashville who actually created the street
art.” Prosser said city employees will be
recognized at a pre-game program beginning
at 6:45 p.m.
“We’re providing a complimentary game
ticket to each of the city’s employees, and
they’re invited to join us for a tailgate
party in their honor beginning at 5 p.m.
before the game,” Prosser said. “So many of
these people have worked behind the scenes
to see that these projects were completed,
and it’s so very important to us that they
know we appreciate what they have done for
Bethel. “I hope the city employees will
join us for this special event. We’ve long
had a healthy rivalry with Lambuth
University, so I’m confident there will be a
lot of Wildcat spirit at this game in
particular. And for those who haven’t heard,
our Wildcat football team is ranked #4 in
the NAIA.” For others interested in
attending this weekend’s game, children 10
and under get in free to all Bethel
regular-season home games, and tickets for
students 11-17 are $5. Tickets for those 18
