Huntingdon Man Shoots Himself in Leg to End Pain

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an incident in which a Huntingdon man shot himself in the leg on April 3.

Officers arrived at 16710 Highway 70 West to find Michael Greg Hollowell, 43, with a gunshot wound to his right leg, according to a report filed by Deputy Jonathan W. McDowell.

Hollowell told the officer that his leg had been hurting him for the last three days. He had been drinking and decided to take a Stevens Savage 410 shotgun and shoot his right leg just above the knee, according to the deputy. The owner of the residence came into the bedroom and found Hollowell bleeding and dialed 911.

The officer asked Hollowell why he wanted to shoot himself. Hollowell stated that he couldn't take the pain anymore and decided to kill the pain. He was transported to Baptist Hospital Emergency Room for treatment.
