Two Men Charged in Stabbing of Huntingdon Man

A Huntingdon man was the victim of a December 21 stabbing at Gooch’s Bar and Grill in Parker’s Crossroads, according to Henderson County Sheriff’s Department.

Michael Sipes, 37, and Robert Sipes, 47, both of Lexington, face charges of aggravated assault and attempted second-degree murder of Frank McFadden.

A Henderson County sheriff’s report noted that at 12:42 a.m., Deputy Shane Paar was dispatched to Gooch’s Bar in reference to a possible assault in progress. While enroute he was advised the possible victim was enroute to Henderson County Hospital and observed a vehicle on Highway 22 North with flashing headlights. The deputy made contact with the driver, who stated the back seat passenger, had been stabbed at Gooch’s Bar. The officer observed what appeared to be deep lacerations to the upper left side of his chest as well as a small puncture wound to his lower back.

Witnesses allegedly told the officer that Robert and Michael Sipes had stabbed McFadden outside of the bar and that Robert Sipes was walking south on Highway 22.

After obtaining statements from witnesses, Paar returned to the crime scene, where he discovered small drops of blood at the edge of the parking lot, as well as an unidentified package wrapped in grey duck tape. A knife was also discovered at the entrance of the parking area on the grounds, according to the report.

Robert Sipes was taken into custody on Highway 22 and Rock Springs Road and transported to Henderson County Jail and held without bond. The suspect reportedly had what appeared to be a large amount of blood on his hands, arms and clothes, according to the officer’s report.

Michael Sipes was also being held in the Henderson County Jail without bond following the incident.

McFadden was admitted to the hospital, where he was in intensive care. No further information on his condition was available at press time.
