Fire Departments, Literacy, Arts Receive Grants

HUNTINGDON (February 16) – State Senator Lowe Finney (D-Jackson) and State Representative Mark Maddox (D-Dresden) were in Carroll County last Saturday to present grant checks to various organizations.

Senator Finney and Representative Maddox said the funding to the various agencies is part of the Community Enhancement Grant.

Finney’s sponsored grants include: Carroll County Library $1,000; Carroll County Rescue Squad $2,500; Carroll County Rural Fire Departments: $14,750; Carroll County Shooting Complex $20,000; City of Trezevant $2,000; McKenzie Fire Department $5,000; McKenzie Memorial Library $2,000; Yuma Community Center $3,500; Carroll County Arts Council $3,500; Gordon Browning Museum $2,000; Hollow Rock VFW $2,000; McKenzie/Carroll County United Neighbors $4,500.

Maddox’s sponsored grants include: Fire Departments – Clarksburg, $525; Macedonia, $2,700; Mixie, $2,700; Trezevant, $2,500; Twin Cities, $2,500; Vale, $2,700; Westport, $525, Atwood, $2,500; Huntingdon, $2,500; McKenzie, $2,500; McLemoresville, $2,500; Carroll County Rescue Squad, $1,500; Office of Aging, $1,800; Carroll County Senior Citizens, $2,500; Trezevant Senior Citizens, $1,800; Libraries and Museums – Carroll County Library, $1,250; McKenzie Memorial Library, $1,250; Gordon Browning Museum, $1,000; Carroll County Museum, $1,000; Parks and Arts – Bruceton, $1,250; Trezevant/West Carroll, $1,250; Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center, $3,000; Carroll County Arts Council, $750; and Carroll County Trap-Skeet Shooting Complex, $1,500.

Senator Finney’s legislative district includes Carroll, Gibson, and Madison counties. Representative Maddox’s district includes all of Weakley County and one-half of Carroll County.
