HENRY, Tenn. (February 8) — Approximately 200 residents of the tri-county area are without employment today following an early morning fire at Champion Homes in Henry, Tennessee. Firefighters responded around 5:00 a.m. Friday to the blaze. Fire departments throughout the county were on the scene as well as law enforcement agencies and the Henry County Emergency Medical Services.

Jennifer Starks, human resources manager for Champion, said workers from Henry, Carroll and Weakley counties compose the lion's share of workers. The plant was ready to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year.

One of the manufacturing buildings lies in ruin on the ground.

Billy Taylor said the fire started in the old building close to the nearby street.

All buildings were lost, except the newest office building, which is separated from the other buildings.

Champion employees are not to report to work on Friday, however, their payroll checks may be picked up at Henry City Hall, according to one source.
