Paris, Tenn. A water and sewer rate survey
that compares the cost of utilities to the
systems customers was released during a
recent meeting of the Paris-Henry County
Board of Public Utilities.
As it has for the past several years, the
Paris Board of Public Utilities (BPU) has
ranked among districts having the lowest
water and sewer rates in Tennessee.
In the water rate survey, BPU posts $13.50
for 5,000 gallons and $53.50 per 25,000
gallons and ranks 21st lowest in the state.
BPU also ranks 21st lowest in state sewer
rates, posting $16.55 per 5,000 gallons and
$59.95 per 25,000 gallons.
McKenzie ranks 51st lowest of the 242
reporting systems with a rate of $16.53 for
5,000 gallons of water and 79th lowest in
customer sewer costs with a rate of $23.72
for 5,000 gallons. A total of 145 systems
reported their prices in the sewer category.
Huntingdon ranks 82nd lowest in water rates
with a rate of $18.99 for 5,000 gallons and
34th lowest for sewer at $17.71 for 5,000 of
sewer discharge.
Cedar Grove District ranked 189th lowest in
the water survey with a rate of $33.50 for
5,000 of water.
McLemoresville ranked 94th lowest on water
with a rate of $20.00 for 5,000 gallons.
Gleason ranked 119th lowest on water with a
rate of $23.10 for 5,000 gallons and ranks
5th lowest on sewer at $11.55 for 5,000
gallons.
In the water rate survey, the Duck River
system ranks lowest, at $5.50 per 5,000
gallons, while the city of Bartlett is
lowest in sewer rates with $7.67 per 5,000
gallons.
Highest in the water survey is the Cordell
Hull Utility District at $64.25 per 5,000
gallons, while highest in the sewer survey
is the Piperton Water System, at $75.84 per
5,000 gallons.
As in the past, the Paris-Henry County BPU
is lower than all of the neighboring cities
of comparable sizes in both water and sewer
rates.
On the water rate survey, the city of Martin
ranks 37th lowest (charging $15.18 per 5,000
gallons); Camden is 46th ($16.14); and Big
Sandy Water Works is 167th ($29.48).
On the sewer rates survey, Martin is 91st
($25.82); Big Sandy Waterworks is 95th
($27). |
