Darren Riggs is
the new postmaster at McKenzie Post
Office.

Darren Riggs is the new postmaster at
McKenzie Post Office, effective Saturday,
July 5. Prior to the appointment, Riggs
served as officer in charge, filling a
vacancy created when Postmaster Chuck
Wallace retired on May 1.
Im looking forward to the assignment,
said Riggs, My interest is improving mail
service and improving customer service. As
long as I keep both of those on an upward
trend, everything should be exceptional.
McKenzie Post Office is a Sectional Central
Facility (SCF), where employees hand sort
mail for approximately 30 offices in the 382
zip code area. The local post office handles
approximately 500,000 pieces of letter mail
per week.
I really do have an open door policy with
my customers as well as my employees, said
Riggs. I welcome anyone to come by and talk
with me about issues, good or bad.
Riggs, 38, an Atwood native, is a 1987
graduate of West Carroll High School, and an
Air Force veteran (1987-1998). He began his
career with the U.S. Postal Service in
October 1998 as a part-time clerk in
Jackson. He advanced through the ranks as a
supervisor of Tour I mail processing and
then delivery supervisor, and later, manager
of mail processing all in Jackson. For the
past two years, he has served as postmaster
of the Humboldt Post Office.
Riggs and his wife, Kim, reside in Milan and
have two daughters, Haley, age 12, and Tori,
age 9. Kim is the CFO of the Bank of Milan.
Riggs parents, Bobby and Karen Riggs, also
reside in Milan. |
