MCKENZIE, TN - Bethel College President
Bob Prosser announced his plans to retire
effective July 31, 2010, at the Bethel Board
of Trustees meeting this past weekend.
Prosser shared his confidence in the
continued success of Bethel.
"I not only love Bethel College, I
believe in Bethel College," he said. "What
Bethel is doing is truly remarkable. Bethel
will have no problem securing an excellent
leader to continue to move the school
forward. Everything is in place - a quality
faculty, a great staff, eager students,
great supporters and a strong financial
base. Bethel will continue onward and upward
for years and years to come."
"We profoundly regret that President
Prosser will be leaving us in July 2010,"
said Board of Trustees chair Ben Cantrell,
"and we certainly want to express our
gratitude to him for all he's done for
Bethel. We look forward to finding an
outstanding candidate who can build upon
what President Prosser has established over
his tenure."
A presidential search committee was
appointed and will begin an immediate search
to find a qualified person to serve as
executive vice president/president elect.
The committee will recommend that person at
the June 2009 Bethel Board of Trustees
meeting.
According to Eugene Leslie, a Bethel
trustee and the chair of the search
committee, the president elect will assume
office July 1, 2009 and work alongside
President Prosser for the remaining year of
Prosser's term and assume responsibilities
as president on August 1, 2010.
Bob Prosser was elected the 39th president
of Bethel College in 1998. During his
tenure, enrollment at the four-year, private
liberal arts school has quadrupled, budgets
have been balanced and numerous recognitions
have come to the school. Most recently,
Prosser was chosen at the 2008 Students in
Free Enterprise (SIFE) national competition
as the college president most supportive of
SIFE students.
Bethel's main campus is in McKenzie and has
19 satellite campuses in Tennessee. |
