The very popular annual Cancer Bake
Auction begins Monday, March 17, and
continues through Friday, March 21,
according to co-chairmen Mary and Harold Kee.
The five-day event will be broadcast on AM
station WHDM-1440 each afternoon beginning
at one oclock.
This years event is at the fellowship hall
of the McKenzie Church of Christ on North
Highland Drive.
Lively and competitive bidding is expected
on a wide assortment of cakes, pies,
casseroles, cookies, candies, homemade
breads, lasagna and many other items.
Persons may call in bids by phoning
352-0167, 352-0168, or 352-0169. Also
listeners may place bids on the Website:
www.whdmradio.com. Representatives from
various civic organizations will be
answering calls as Jim Roberts, Kenny Carr,
Clayton Owen, Fred Morris and Kenny McBride
serve as auctioneers.
Each culinary masterpiece will be prepared
especially for the auction by many local,
talented chefs using their own favorite
recipes. Everyone in the community can
participate by baking, bidding or buying.
Items should be delivered to McKenzie Church
of Christ Winston Hall any auction day after
6:45 a.m. All items should be labeled with
the type of item and name of the
contributor.
All proceeds from the sale go to the
American Cancer Society to help stamp out
cancer in our lifetime. Each contribution is
tax deductible and goes to a very worthwhile
cause.
