Cancer Bake Auction Begins Monday

The very popular annual Cancer Bake Auction begins Monday, March 17, and continues through Friday, March 21, according to co-chairmen Mary and Harold Kee. The five-day event will be broadcast on AM station WHDM-1440 each afternoon beginning at one o’clock.

This year’s event is at the fellowship hall of the McKenzie Church of Christ on North Highland Drive.

Lively and competitive bidding is expected on a wide assortment of cakes, pies, casseroles, cookies, candies, homemade breads, lasagna and many other items. Persons may call in bids by phoning 352-0167, 352-0168, or 352-0169. Also listeners may place bids on the Website: www.whdmradio.com. Representatives from various civic organizations will be answering calls as Jim Roberts, Kenny Carr, Clayton Owen, Fred Morris and Kenny McBride serve as auctioneers.

Each culinary masterpiece will be prepared especially for the auction by many local, talented chefs using their own favorite recipes. Everyone in the community can participate by baking, bidding or buying.

Items should be delivered to McKenzie Church of Christ Winston Hall any auction day after 6:45 a.m. All items should be labeled with the type of item and name of the contributor.

All proceeds from the sale go to the American Cancer Society to help stamp out cancer in our lifetime. Each contribution is tax deductible and goes to a very worthwhile cause.

Mark these dates on your calendar, join the fun and help make this a special event.
