BRUCETON (March 18) Robert A. (Bob) Clark Jr,
41, Cary Drive, Bruceton, died at 11:40 p.m.
March 18 as the result of a one-vehicle,
single-occupant accident that occurred on
South Carroll Street in Bruceton.
According to a report filed by officer
Anthony Moon of the Bruceton Police
Department, Clark’s 1997 Toyota T-100 pickup
exited the right side of a straight section
of roadway along South Carroll Street at
approximately 9:37 p.m. after failing to
stop at a four-way stop sign located at the
intersection of South Carroll and College
streets. Continuing past the four way stop
sign, the northbound vehicle veered off the
roadway to the right and struck a speed
limit sign before crossing a ditch and
striking a utility pole guy wire.
Upon impacting the light pole guy wire, the
vehicle reportedly overturned multiple times
in a vacant lot before coming to a final
rest on its wheels approximately ten feet
from South Carroll Street, directly across
the street from a residence located at 120
South Carroll Street.
The report stated that Clark was ejected
from the vehicle at some point during the
rollovers.
According to eye-witnesses, Clark,
non-responsive to CPR administered on the
scene, was transported via ambulance to
Baptist Memorial Hospital Emergency Room and
pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m.
Carroll County Coroner Steve Cantrell ruled
death by enclosed head trauma.
The report noted that the accident was
witnessed by Bruceton residents Jerry Anhalt,
122 South Carroll Street and Jerry Howell,
874 College Street.
The severely-damaged vehicle was towed from
the scene by Wade’s Towing Service of Hollow
Rock.
A 1984 graduate of Hollow Rock-Bruceton
Central High School, Clark Jr., the son of
Bruceton Alderman Robert Clark Sr. and
educator Diane Clark, is also survived by a
brother, Chris, and sister, Amy.
Well-liked and popular, Clark Jr. was
employed as a fitness trainer at Barnett’s
24 / 7 Physical Fitness Center located in
Huntingdon. |
