Authorities Continue to Await Autopsy Results in Tina Winkler Case

By Linda Bolton
linda@mckenziebanner.com

Autopsy results are not yet available in the 2007 death of Tina Winkler, John Mehr, TBI special agent in charge in Jackson, told the Banner Tuesday morning.

“It just takes time,” said Mehr, who noted many samples are analyzed during autopsies.

Despite recent rumors, there have been no arrests in the case and there is no continuing investigation at this time, said Mehr. Authorities are simply awaiting autopsy results at this time.

Winkler, wife of McKenzie medical doctor Volker Winkler, was found in her PT Cruiser in a thick wooded area behind the Winkler home in the Pea Ridge community near Huntingdon early Friday afternoon, November 23. She had been missing since the first part of November, said Mehr.

Her body was discovered by her son, who had gone into the area to cut wood. Family members had been looking for the missing mother of six since her disappearance.
