Darren Riggs
Darren Riggs, age 38, is the new officer
in charge at the McKenzie Post Office. Riggs
is filling the vacancy created when
Postmaster Chuck Wallace retired on May 1.
Riggs, an Atwood native, is a 1987 graduate
of West Carroll High School, and an Air
Force veteran (1987-1998). He began his
career with the U.S. Postal Service in
October 1998 as a part-time clerk in
Jackson. He advanced through the ranks as a
supervisor of Tour I mail processing and
then delivery supervisor, and later, manager
of mail processing all in Jackson. For the
past two years, he has served as postmaster
of the Humboldt Post Office, from which he
is on leave to serve as officer in charge at
McKenzie.
Applicants for the position of postmaster
will bid for the position, said Riggs, who
is also applying for the permanent
assignment. He said he works to provide
great customer service and said that patrons
to the local post office will probably see
him in the lobby and other areas of public
access.
Riggs and his wife, Kim, reside in Milan and
have two daughters, Haley, age 12, and Tori,
age 9. Kim is the CFO of the Bank of Milan.
Riggss parents, Bobby and Karen Riggs, also
reside in Milan. |
