Teague Murder Trial Underway

A second murder trial for Dale Maurice Teague began Monday in Carroll County Circuit Court in Huntingdon, with Judge Donald Parish presiding. Opening remarks from the prosecution and defense lawyers were heard following the seating of the jury, followed by testimony in the case. The trial continued at press time Tuesday.

Teague faces a second degree murder charge in the fatal shooting of Dwight Anthony Jones, age 41, of McKenzie on April 12, 2007. The murder took place at 319 Walnut Circle, an apartment rented by Teague’s mother, Karen Cunningham in the McKenzie Housing Authority.

During a March trial, a circuit court jury could not reach a unanimous decision on a conviction of first degree murder, following two days of testimony. They determined Teague was not guilty of premeditated murder, but could not agree on lesser charges of second degree murder, manslaughter or reckless homicide, causing the judge to declare a mistrial.
