Bruceton Package Liquor Referendum on November Ballot

By Ernie Smothers
smothers@mckenziebanner.com

BRUCETON (October 3) On November 4, citizens of Bruceton will vote for the third time to allow or disallow the sale of package liquor in town.

Regarding the liquor referendum, Bruceton City Recorder Tony Lancaster said, "The referendum failed two years ago on the 2006 ballot by only eight or nine votes. I just want our citizens to realize the importance of passing this referendum. For our town to be able to continue providing the current level of services to our citizens, passage of the packed liquor referendum is vital."

He continued, "The town government and all town services are funded completely by tax dollars. Right now, we are stretched as far as we can go."

He concluded, "Passage of the liquor referendum on the November 4 ballot would greatly diminish Bruceton's financial burden. The tax money collected from package liquor sales would definitely generate much-needed tax dollars and lessen the economic strain we are dealing with on a daily basis."
