CHARLES FREDDIE KIZER
1927-2008
Funeral services for Charles Freddie Kizer,
80, were at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 14, at
the Huntingdon Church of Christ with Chase
Funeral Home in charge of the services.
Minister Dan Winkler officiated and Mr.
Kizer's son, Andy Kizer, and grandsons, Drew
Kizer, Ashley Kizer, Mackenzie Kizer and
Barton Kizer eulogized their grandfather's
services.
Mr. Kizer passed away at his home Tuesday
evening after a long, courageous battle with
pancreatic cancer.
Mr. Kizer was born November 10, 1927 in
Wildersville and was the son of the late
Everett and Ruthie Bolen Kizer. He was a
lifelong member of the Church of Christ and
served the Lord in many capacities over the
years. He retired from Magnetek Industries
in Lexington. He loved the Lord, life,
people, family and farm animals. He raised
many types of farm animals including deer,
goats, pigs, chickens and lastly, buffalo,
which are a rarity in our area.
He was married to Mackey Ruth Cole on
January 10, 1948. To this union three
children were born: Charles Andrew (Mary
Jane) Kizer, Deborah (Rodney) Tucker, and
Alice Jean (Suzie) Chapman. His wife
preceded him in death on June 6, 1993.
Additionally, he was survived by six
grandchildren: John Andrew (Julie) Kizer of
Leeds, Alabama; Ashley Andrew (Candace)
Kizer of Adamsville, Alabama; Mackenzie
Andrew (Rae) Kizer of Leeds, Alabama; Barton
Andrew (Allison) Kizer of Leeds, Alabama;
David Lee (Christy) Tucker of Huntingdon;
Dustin Alan Tucker of Huntingdon; two
great-granddaughters, Ava Isabella Kizer and
Caroline Elizabeth Kizer of Leeds, Alabama;
two sisters, Ruth McDaniel of Lexington and
Mae Kizer of Wildersville; and one brother,
Robert (Addie) Kizer of Wildersville.
Later, he married Janice Bartholomew-Kizer,
who survives him. There were four
step-children: Sandy (Mike) Boldreghini of
Oakland; Melody Haynes of Huntingdon; Burt
(Carolyn) Bartholomew of MacHenry,
Mississippi; and Brad (Valerie) Bartholomew
of Huntingdon; four step-grandchildren: Shea
(Daniel) Smith of Nashville; Matthew
(Amanda) Boldreghini of Memphis; Justin
Goble of Gulfport, Mississippi; and Brianna
Bartholomew of Huntingdon; one
step-great-grandchild, Annabel Boldreghini
of Memphis. In addition to all of these
loved ones are many special nieces and
nephews, as well as friends and extended
family.
Active pallbearers who served were his
grandsons and stepsons. Honorary pallbearers
were Rodney Tucker, Kyle Chapman, Robert
Kizer, Billy Darnall, Troy Kinningham, James
Dedmon, Howell Reeves, Bobby Hardy, James
Darnall, James Crum, Randy Crider, Bill
Byars, Nelson Kizer and Rusty Roe.
Interment was at the Kizer Cemetery in
Wildersville.
RICHARD EARL EVANS
1951-2008
CAMDEN: Richard Earl Evans, 56, died Sunday,
February 10, at his home. The body was
cremated.
Mr. Evans was born April 18, 1951 in
Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Virgil Charles
Evans and Alma Mae Moore Evans. Besides his
parents, he was preceded in death by one
brother, Carol Lee Evans.
Survivors include: three sisters, Norma
Byers of Hollow Rock, Sharon Robinson of
Ashland, Kentucky, and Carolyn Byers of Coal
Grove, Ohio.
Bruceton Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
CHARLES RAY STEWART
1934-2008
TREZEVANT: Charles Ray Stewart, 73, died
Tuesday, February 12, at Milan General
Hospital. Funeral services were Thursday,
February 14, at 2 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral
Home in Trezevant with Bro. Lynn Walker
officiating. Burial followed in Pilgrim's
Rest Cemetery in McKenzie.
Mr. Stewart was born September 28, 1934 in
Carroll County to the late Charles Leon
Stewart and Alene Milam Stewart. He was
retired from the Milan Arsenal. Besides his
parents, he was preceded in death by one
grandson.
Survivors include: his wife, Billie Kay
Stewart of Trezevant; three sons, Chuck
Stewart of Milan, Allen "Flossy" Gullett of
Trezevant and Kenneth Wallace of Cedar
Grove; five daughters, Teressa McCoy of San
Angelo, Texas, Vicki Williams, Kathy
Blankenship, Peggy Gullett, all of Cedar
Grove, and Debbie Crawford of McLemoresville;
one brother, Bobby Joe Stewart of Atwood;
one sister, Ann Coffman of Hoopeston,
Illinois; eight grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
KATHERINE HAYES
1933-2008
HUNTINGDON: Gracie Katherine Hayes, 74, died
Monday, February 11, at her home. Funeral
services were Thursday, February 14, at 1
p.m. at Dilday Funeral Home with Bro. Jim
Cooper officiating. Burial followed in
Carroll Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hayes was born April 23, 1933 in
Nashville to the late Glen and Gracie Eve
Ritter Hilliard. She was a member of the
First United Methodist Church and an
employee in the cafeteria at Huntingdon High
School. Besides her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Charles
Hayes; one son, Michael Hayes; two brothers,
Claudie Hilliard and Tommy Hilliard; and
three sisters, Louise Norwood, Margaret
Boulden and Jennie Bell.
Survivors include: one son, Adam I. Hayes of
Huntingdon; one daughter, Vickie L. Fuller
of Mercer; three brothers, Johnny Hilliard
of Dresden, Jimmy Ray Hilliard of Camden,
and Kenneth Hilliard of Jackson; five
sisters, Ruth Robinson of Hollow Rock,
Thelma White of Medina, Mary Lou Hilliard of
Jackson, Jennifer Hilliard of Dickson, and
Joyce Hilliard of Jackson; seven
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
NEIL M. FLIPPIN
1926-2008
MCKENZIE: Neil M Flippin, 81, died Thursday,
February 14, at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
Funeral services were Saturday, February 16,
at 2 p.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home,
McKenzie.
Mr. Flippin was born May 3, 1926 in McKenzie
to the late James A. and Polly McAlexander
Flippin. He was owner of Flippin's Texaco
and a delivery man for West Tennessee Dairy,
both in McKenzie. He was a member of Grace
Baptist Church. Beside his parents, he was
preceded in death by his wife, Norma D.
Hicks Flippin; one son, Randall Flippin; two
brothers, Charles Flippin and James Flippin;
and one sister, Elizabeth French.
Survivors include: one daughter, Melinda
Kinslow of Nashville; one son, David (Tanya)
Flippin of Dresden; two sisters, Martha Jean
(Lyndol) Glisson of McKenzie and Aline Lowe
of McKenzie; two brothers, Bobby (Velta)
Flippin and Richard (Margaret) Flippin, both
of McKenzie; seven grandchildren, Jamie
Cunningham, Emily Daily, Melissa Goode,
Cheri Williams, Deana Hogard, Amber Ferrell
and Angie Flippin; and 12
great-grandchildren.
RANDAL H. MILLIGAN
1958-2008
SEVIERVILLE: Randal H. Milligan, 50, died
Thursday, February 7, at Fort Sanders
Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. His
remains will be returned to his hometown in
Michigan for burial at a later date.
Mr. Milligan was employed by the University
of Tennessee in the maintenance department
and was a member of Gleason Lodge #330 in
Gleason. He was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Sevierville. He was
preceded in death by his father, Keith
Milligan; and one brother, Craig Milligan.
Survivors include: one brother, David Earl
Milligan.
Rawlings Funeral Home of Sevierville had
charge of the arrangements.
BETTY ANN WALLACE HARPER
1958-2008
LAVINIA: Betty Ann Wallace Harper, 49, died
Friday, February 8, at Jackson Madison
County General Hospital. Funeral services
were Wednesday, February 13, at Bodkins
Funeral Home in Milan.
Mrs. Harper was born November 10, 1958 in
Carroll County. She was preceded in death by
her father, Charles Ray Wallace; four
brothers, Charles Ray Wallace, Jr., Floyd
Franklin Wallace, Jerry Dean Wallace, and
John David "Frog" Wallace; and one sister,
Carol Jean Wallace.
Survivors include: her husband, Roger
Harper, Sr.; her mother, Sarah Ann Crews
Wallace; two daughters, Amanda Harper and
Christina Wallace; one son, Roger "Alan"
(Lisa Newell) Harper; two brothers, Gary
Wallace and Bobby Wallace, both of McKenzie;
and one sister, Barbara Tatum of Gleason.
FRANCES WALKER RIDLEY
1926-2008
TREZEVANT: Frances Walker Ridley, 81, died
Thursday, February 14, at McKenzie Health
Care Center. Funeral services were Saturday,
February 16, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist
Church in Trezevant with Bro. Malcolm Norton
officiating. Burial followed in Trezevant
Cemetery.
Mrs. Ridley was born July 17, 1926 in
Trezevant to the late Sherlie S. Walker and
Myrtle Estella Scott Walker. She was a
retired employee of the Department of Human
Services and a member of the First Baptist
Church in Trezevant. Besides her parents,
she was preceded in death by three brothers,
Malone, Jeff and Sherlie S. Walker, Jr.; and
one sister, Kathleen Watkins.
Survivors include: one son, Roy Stephen
Traywick of Trezevant; two sisters, Evelyn
Wakefield and Evelena Pinson, both of
Memphis; two sisters-in-law, Evajean Walker
of Trezevant and Virginia Walker of
McKenzie; and many nieces and nephews.
Brummitt Funeral Home in Trezevant was in
charge of arrangements.
JOE E. CROSSER
1938-2008
HENRY: Joe E. Crosser, 69, died Monday,
February 11. Funeral services were Sunday,
February 17, at 4:30 p.m. at Ridgeway
Funeral Home with Steve Gallimore and Joseph
"Joe" Walker, Sr. officiating. The body was
cremated.
Mr. Crosser was born September 2, 1938 in
Paris to the late Sam Bernard and Carleen
Colline Crosser. He was a truck driver for
Paschall Truck Lines, formerly drove for
Houston Trucking and Hayes Construction
Company. He was a member of Chapel Hill
Methodist Church and attended Tennessee
Valley Community Church. He was also a
member of the Paris Masonic Lodge 108.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in
death by one sister, Ruby Lee Cloar.
Survivors include: two sons, Casey (Nikki)
Crosser of Henry and Deon (Verdell) Crosser
of Cottage Grove; one stepson, Tony (Debbie)
Brown of Henry; eight grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
ALICE FAYE VALENTINE
1949-2008
PARIS: Alice Faye Valentine, 58, died
Thursday, February 14, at Regional Hospital
of Jackson. Funeral services were Saturday,
February 16, at 2 p.m. at Ridgeway Funeral
Home with James Groves and Tommie Dicus
officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest
Memorial Park.
Mrs. Valentine was born May 4, 1949 in
Dresden. She was a former employee of the
Holley Carburetor Plant and owned and
operated several beauty shops. She was a
member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was
preceded in death by her mother, Alice Marie
Johnson Baker.
Survivors include: her husband, Franklin
Valentine of Paris; her father, L. T. Baker
of Springville; one daugher, Shawnaree
(David) Brown of Paris; one stepdaughter,
Cherle (Jerry) Chilton of Clairmont, North
Carolina: three sisters, Doris Reid of
McKenzie, Gloria Kirkland and Phyllis Koebel,
both of Springville; one brother, Harry
(Paula) Baker of Paris; two grandchildren
and two step-grandchildren.
MARGUERITE RODGERS
1920 - 2008
BRUCETON: Marguerite Rodgers, 87, died
Tuesday, February 12, at Baptist Memorial
Hospital in Huntingdon. Funeral services
were Thursday, February 14, at 11 a.m. at
Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Manness
officiating. Burial followed in Prospect
Cemetery.
Mrs. Rodgers was born April 29, 1920 in
McEwen to the late Charlie James and Ocie (Climer)
James. She was a homemaker and a member of
Marlsboro Missionary Baptist Church. Besides
her parents, she was preceded in death by
her husband, William Hershell Rodgers; three
sisters, Velma Hastings, Ila Crews, and Edna
Higdon; one half-sister, Lorene Whitfield;
two brothers, Ed James and Alex James; and
one half-brother, Alvin James.
Survivors include: one son, James H. "Buck"
(Betty) Rodgers of Bruceton; one sister,
Natalee Crews of Camden; one grandson and
one great-granddaughter.
EDWARD LEE NEWSOME
1932-2008
TREZEVANT: Edward Lee Newsome, 76, died
Sunday, February 17, at his home. Funeral
services were Tuesday, February 19, at 2
p.m. at Chase Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny
Boyd officiating. Burial followed in
Seller's Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Newsome was born January 24, 1932 in
Carroll County to the late Onnie and Gracie
Elizabeth (McDowell) Newsome. He was a
retired heavy equipment operator for the
Carroll County Highway Department.
Survivors include: one daughter, Donna Ann
Walker of Westport; three sons, Roger
Newsome, Ricky Lee Newsome, and Gary Wayne
Newsome, all of Huntingdon; one
stepdaughter, Kathy Smith of McLemoresville;
one brother, Bobby Newsome of Nashville;
seven grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
EDWARD RICHARD "BILL" SUTHERLAND
1933-2008
GLEASON: Edward Richard "Bill" Sutherland,
75, died Friday, February 15, at Volunteer
Community Hospital. Funeral services were
Monday, February 18, at 11 a.m. at Gallimore
Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Copeland
officiating. Burial followed in West Union
Cemetery.
Mr. Sutherland was born January 14, 1933 in
Dresden to the late Irie and Elsie Jones
Sutherland. He was a retired heavy equipment
operator at K-T Clay Company and member of
West Union Baptist Church. Besides his
parents, he was preceded in death by one
brother, Marland Sutherland; and one sister,
Dorothy Lax.
Survivors include: one brother, James
Sutherland of Louisville, Kentucky; and
three sisters, Mavis Insco of Dresden, Nell
Childress of Louisville, Texas and Inez
McKowen of Martin.
ANDREW JOSEPH RINI
1920-2008
HUNTINGDON: Andrew Joseph Rini, 87, died
Saturday, February 16, at Huntingdon Health
and Rehabilitation Center. There will be no
services for Mr. Rini.
Mr. Rini was born September 20, 1920 in
Louisiana. He was a retired engineer for the
railroad and a member of the Catholic
Church. He was preceded in death by one son,
Andrew Joseph Rini, Jr., and one
daughter-in-law, Norma Frances Rini.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruth E. Rini;
one sister, Josephine of New Orleans; one
granddaughter; one grandson; and four
great-grandchildren.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
LELA MAE BELEW
MCKENZIE: Lela Mae Belew, 91, died Monday,
February 18, at Oak Manor Health Care Center
in McKenzie. Funeral services are Thursday,
February 21, at 2 p.m. at McKenzie Funeral
Home with Bro. Dennis Beal officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Academy Cemetery
near McKenzie.
Mrs. Belew was born May 2, 1916 in Hollow
Rock to the late Albert and Onie Turner
Traywick. She was a retired factory employee
for Henry I. Siegel in Trezevant and a
member of Union Academy Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Clarence Russell Belew;
one sister, Ardell Barksdale; and three
brothers, Wayne Traywick, Marvin Traywick,
and Willard Traywick.
Survivors include: two sons, Phil (Betty)
Belew of McKenzie and Ronnie (Frances) Belew
of Brownsville; one granddaughter, Carol (Stormey)
Crocker of McKenzie; two
great-grandchildren, Samantha Crocker and
Austin Crocker of McKenzie; and one sister,
Gay Nell Balind of Indiana.
The family will receive friends Wednesday
from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from
11 a.m. until time of service. |
