DARLENE MARIE RYTI
1957-2008
HUNTINGDON: Darlene Marie Ryti, 50, died
Sunday, July 6, at her home. The family has
chosen cremation with no visitation.
Ms. Ryti was born December 10, 1957 in
Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late Lesie
Ryti and Betty (Wurzbragur) Ryti. She was a
sales clerk for a travel agency. Besides her
parents, she was preceded in death by her
brother, Dale Ryti.
Survivors include: one daughter, Ashley
Nicole Smith; two sons, Jeffery Lloyd Smith
and Jimmy (Amanda) Smith, both of
Huntingdon; one sister, Patty Ryti of
Missouri; and two grandsons.
Chase Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
MARY SUE SMITH
1951-2008
MILAN: Mary Sue Smith, 56, died Thursday,
July 3, at Jackson Madison County General
Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday,
July 5, at 12 noon at Chase Funeral Home
with Rev. Bobby Dunlap officiating. Burial
followed in Little Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born September 16, 1951 in
Lavinia. She was a retired seamstress for S
& S Garment Company and a member of New Life
Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded
in death by her father, Collier Hale; and
one son, Larry Dean Smith.
Survivors include: her mother, Mary Lee Hale
of Milan; two sisters, Theresa (Neal) Donald
of Huntingdon and Denise (Ron) Scott of
Milan; one brother, James David (Joyce) Hale
of Atwood; and one grandson.
CLARA MAE BELL HASTINGS
1922-2008
MCKENZIE: Clara Mae Bell Hastings, 85, died
Saturday, July 5, at McKenzie Health Care
Center. Funeral services are Wednesday July
9, at 11 a.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home,
McKenzie with burial in Liberty UMC
Cemetery, McKenzie.
Mrs. Hastings was born September 22, 1922 to
the late Murray V. and Ollie Millie Pryor
Bell. She was a homemaker. Besides her
parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband, James Otis Hastings and one
grandson.
Survivors include: two daughters, Gladys
(Joe) Patterson of McKenzie and Janice Hope
Davis of Portales, New Mexico; two sons,
James Hastings and Robert Earl Hastings,
both of McKenzie; two grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, July 8 from 4
p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday morning 9:30
a.m. until service time.
BOBBY J. BARKER
1937-2008
MCKENZIE: Bobby J. Barker, 70, died Sunday,
July 6, at McKenzie Regional Hospital.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 8, at 11
a.m. at Brummitt Funeral Home, McKenzie with
burial in Union Academy Cemetery, McKenzie.
Mr. Barker was born November 28, 1937 to the
late Looney M. Barker and Birtie Lena Belew
Barker. He was a retired machinist for HIS
in Bruceton. Besides his parents, he was
preceded in death by three uncles and one
aunt, Russell Belew and his wife Lela Mae,
Raymond Belew and Virgil Harrison.
Survivors include: his wife, Frances Gilliam
Barker; one son, Kenny Barker of McKenzie;
one stepson, Steve (Gayle) Ross of
Wildersville; one stepdaughter, Kim (James)
Boyd of Yuma; two step-grandchildren, Blake
Ross and Lindsay Hart; two
step-great-grandchildren, Alexis Hart and
Aubrey Hart; and two aunts, Rebecca Harrison
of McKenzie and LaVerne Belew of Trezevant.
CAROL JO ESCH HILLIARD
1951-2008
MCKENZIE: Carol Jo Esch Hilliard, 57, died
Tuesday, July 1, at Jackson Madison County
General Hospital. The family has chosen
cremation and there will be a memorial
service announced at a later date.
Ms. Hilliard was born February 19, 1951 to
the late William Thomas and Carolyn Sue
Rochelle Esch. Besides her parents, she was
preceded in death by one brother,William
Earl Esch.
Survivors include: one daughter, Stacey
Renee` Hilliard of McKenzie; one son,
Michael Blackard of Mt. Carroll, Illinois;
one brother, Jerry Esch of McKenzie; five
grandchildren, Elijah Hilliard, Allison
Blackard, Tiffani Blackard, Elizabeth
Blackard and Brandon Blackard.
Brummitt Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
ERMA LEE NOLEN
1926-2008
MCKENZIE: Erma Lee Nolen, 81, died Sunday,
June 29, at Henry County Medical Center.
Funeral services were Sunday, July 6, at 2
p.m. at Greater Enon Baptist Church with
burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Nolen was born December 22, 1926 in
McKenzie to the late Mary Haynes Allen and
Jerry Allen. She was educated in the Carroll
County school system. Besides her parents,
she was preceded in death by her husband,
Archie Nolen; one daughter, Shelia Nolen;
one brother, George Nolen; one sister,
Lonnie Dinwiddie; and one grandson, Howard
Nolen.
Survivors include: her children, John Nolen
of McKenzie, Mary Ann (Rev. Sherman) Dalton
of Gary, Indiana, Rev. George (Gloria) Nolen
of McKenzie, Linda (John) Holloway of
California, Velma Caster of McKenzie, Lina
(Aaron) McClerkin of Huntingdon, and Tammie
House of St. Louis, Missouri; 10
grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Trinity Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
JAMES ROBERT "BOB" EDWARDS
1913-2008
HENRY: James Robert "Bob" Edwards, 95, died
Saturday, July 5, at Henry County Medical
Center. Funeral services were Monday, July
7, at 3 p.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home with
Bro. Roger Graham and Bro. John Dale
officiating. Burial followed in Palestine
Cemetery.
Mr. Edwards was born May 2, 1913 in Henry
County to the late Guy M. Edwards and Nancy
Phelps Edwards. He was a WW II Army veteran,
a retired farmer and member of the Henry
Church of Christ. Besides his parents, he
was preceded in death by three sisters,
Montie Mae Dinkins, Mary Faye Lankford and
Mildred Dale; and seven brothers, Roy, Ray,
Ralph, Guy L., John, Charles and David
Edwards.
Survivors include: his wife, Jimmie Sue
Robertson Edwards; and a number of nieces
and nephews.
JAMES "JIM" LEWIS WRIGHT, JR.
1941-2008
BRUCETON: James "Jim" Lewis Wright, Jr., 66,
died Saturday, July 5, at Jackson Madison
County General Hospital. Funeral services
were Monday, July 7, at 1 p.m. at Bruceton
Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Whitworth
officiating. Burial followed in New Prospect
Cemetery near Hollow Rock.
Mr. Wright was born July 14, 1941 in Conway,
Arkansas to the late James Lewis Wright, Sr.
and Lora Inez Lane Wright. He was a lumber
inspector and yard supervisor for Camden
Hardwood, member of Bruceton First United
Methodist Church, a Vietnam Navy veteran,
member of National Hardwood Association,
Bruceton Masonic Lodge #731, Bruceton Order
of Eastern Star Adah Chapter 314, Hustsburg
Order of Eastern Star 153, and Memphis
Scottish Rite.
Survivors include: his wife, Charmian Arnold
Wright of Bruceton; one daughter, Debbie
Taylor of Bruceton; one sister, Linda Nooner
of Cmorrilton, Arkansas; two brothers,
Ernest Wright of Conway, Arkansas and Doug
Wright of Germantown; two grandchildren and
one great-grandson.
SHIRLEY J. GRIFFIN
1938-2008
MCKENZIE: Shirley J. Griffin, 69, died
Monday, July 7, at her home. Funeral
services were Tuesday, July 8, at 3 p.m. at
Williams Funeral Home in Greenfield with
burial in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in
McKenzie.
Mrs. Griffin was born November 23, 1938 to
the late Rev. C.A. Tate and Lucille (Byrum)
Tate. She was a factory worker at HIS.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Joe Griffin; and one
sister, Mildred Cooper.
Survivors include: one son, Ricky Griffin of
McKenzie; one daughter, Kathy (Griffin)
Brennan of McKenzie; and one brother, Alton
Tate of Gleason. |
