ROYCE DALE WILKINSON
1943-2008
DYERSBURG: Royce Dale Wilkinson, 65,
formerly of Paris, died Monday, April 28.
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 30,
at 3:30 p.m. at McEvoy Funeral Home with Dr.
Phillip Cook officiating. Burial followed in
Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Paris.
Mr. Wilkinson was born January 8, 1943 in
Fulton, Kentucky. He was a former Plant
Superintendent at Thomas Lighting in
Dyersburg, member of First United Methodist
Church in Dyersburg, former member of TN
National Guard, Optimist Club in Paris and
Civitan Club in Dyersburg. He was preceded
in death by his father, Glenn Wilkinson.
Survivors include: one daughter, Teresa
(Mack) Allen of McKenzie; one son, Terry
(Mary Anne) Wilkinson of Paris; his mother,
Agnes Workman Wilkinson of Fulton, Kentucky;
one brother, Richard Wilkinson of Martin;
two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
JAMES O. PORTER
1933-2008
LAVINIA: James O. Porter, 74, died Saturday,
April 27, at Alive Hospice at Saint Thomas
in Nashville. Funeral services were
Wednesday, April 30, at 1 p.m. at Little
Grove Baptist Church in Lavinia with Bobby
Dunlap officiating. Burial followed in
Little Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Porter was born May 30, 1933 in Carroll
County to the late Raymond Porter and Hattie
(Wallick) Porter. He served in the Army for
six years, was a retired production worker
for Milan Arsenal and a member of Little
Grove Baptist Church. Besides his parents,
he was preceded in death by one son, Gary
Devon Porter.
Survivors include: three sons, Kenneth W.
Porter of Huntingdon, Bobby L. Porter of
Lavinia, and James B. Porter of Atwood; two
sisters, 10 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
EVELYN MARIE LYELL MILLER
1934-2008
BRUCETON: Evelyn Marie Lyell Miller, 73,
died Thursday, May 1, at her home. Funeral
services were Sunday, May 4, at 2 p.m. at
Bruceton Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Bolton
officiating. Burial followed in Maple Grove
Cemetery in Mason, Michigan.
Mrs. Miller was born October 29, 1934 in
Gibson County to the late Edgar Eugene Lyell
and Ora Lee Richardson. She was Baptist in
faith.
Survivors include: her husband, Eliott Dwain
Miller of Bruceton; one daughter, Tina Marie
Miller of Bruceton; four sons, Kenneth Wayne
Miller of Sonoma, California, Michael Dwain
Miller of Leslie, Michigan, Randall Lane
Miller of Port Saint Luci, Florida, and
Timothy Zane Miller of Tigard, Oregon; two
sisters, Carolyn Ann Haskins and Bobbie Jean
Shreve, both of Bruceton; 10 grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren.
STEPHEN LAWRENCE LOUCHEN
1947-2008
YUMA: Stephen Lawrence Louchen, 60, died
Saturday, April 19, at Life Care Center in
Bruceton. Memorial services were Thursday,
April 24, at 11 a.m. at the Holy Cross
Catholic Church With Father Fischer
officiating.
Mr. Louchen was born May 3, 1947 in
Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was a Vietnam
Navy veteran, a Behavior Specialist for the
Association for Retarded Citizens, a member
of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Florida, a
member of the Knight's of Columbus, and a
member of the American Veterans of Foreign
Wars.
Survivors include: his wife of 39 years,
Shirley Ann Louchen of Yuma; one daughter,
Stephanie L. (Tony) of Yuma; one brother,
John (Sherry) Engstrom of California; and
four grandchildren.
LUTHER IRVIN WILLIAMS
1929-2008
HUNTINGDON: Luther Irvin Williams, 79, died
Thursday, May 1, at Baptist Memorial
Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday,
May 3, at 11 a.m. at Dilday Funeral Home
with Bro. Fred Ward officiating. Burial
followed in Sellers Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Luther was born February 17, 1929 in
Clarksburg to the late William Luther and
Alice May Chester Williams. He was a retired
employee of Swan Hose. Besides his parents,
he was preceded in death by one son, Larry
Don Williams; and two brothers, James Gorden
Williams and Bobby Gene Williams.
Survivors include: his wife of 54 years,
Mary Ann Williams; one son, Michael Gene
Williams of Ringgold, Louisiana; two
daughters, Linda Irene Cole and Dorothy Ann
Blackburn, both of Huntingdon; one brother,
Willie Franklin Williams of Paris; two
sisters, Hattie Mae Rush of Huntingdon and
Mattie La Bennett of Michigan; five
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
ROBERT "BOB" OZEL COLE
1932-2008
BRUCETON: Robert "Bob" Ozel Cole, Jr., 75,
died Thursday, May 1, at his home.
Mr. Cole was born June 14, 1932 in Smyrna,
Delaware, to the late Robert Ozel and
Dorothy McNatt Cole, Sr. He was a retired
truck driver. Besides his parents, he was
preceded in death by three daughters, Mary
Sue O'Neal, Jenny Lee Hampton and Wanda
Yasko; and two sisters, Alice Steele and
Virginia Fretz.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Cole;
children, Daniel Cole, Victoria Deller, both
of Bruceton, Robert Cole, IV, Teresa Laws,
Robert Cole, III, all of Dover, Delaware,
Earl Cole, Bobbie Miller, both of Hartly,
Delaware, Edward Cole, Daum Walls, both of
Marydel, Delaware, Debbie Jean Cole, Bessy
Williams, Robin Cole, Leonard Cole, Bonnie
Cole, all of Smyrna, Delaware; one sister,
Mona Cole of Blackston, Delaware; 28
grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Dilday Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
VIRGIL BLACKWELL
1927-2008
HUNTINGDON: Virgil Blackwell, 81, died
Friday, May 2, at Huntingdon Health and
Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were
Sunday, May 4, at 2 p.m. at Dilday Funeral
Home with Bro. Scott Carter officiating.
Burial followed in McLemoresville Cemetery.
Mr. Blackwell was born March 20, 1927 in
Trezevant to the late Calvin and Etta Liza
Toombs Blackwell. He was a retired operator
for TVA and a World War II Army veteran.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in
death by one son, Virgil Thomas Blackwell;
one sister, Sue Stewart; and one grandson.
Survivors include: one son, Calvin Lynn
Blackwell; three daughters, Pat (Glendon)
Rich, Nancy (Randy) Crider, and Debbie
(James) Churchwell, all of Huntingdon; two
sisters, Alene Carter and Louise (Roy)
Fuller, both of Huntingdon; 14
grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and
one great-great-grandchild.
RACHEL M. BOAZ
1922-2008
GREENFIELD: Rachel M. Boaz, 86, died
Saturday, May 3, at Regional Hospital of
Jackson. Funeral services were Sunday, May
4, at 2 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in
Greenfield with Bro. Keith Pence
officiating. Burial followed in Meridian
Cemetery in Greenfield.
Mrs. Boaz was born January 22, 1922 to the
late Ollie Raney and Luna Scates in
Greenfield.
Survivors include: two sons, Tommy Boaz of
Hollow Rock and Johnny Boaz of Greenfield.
KEITH UNDERWOOD
1957-2008
HUNTINGDON: Keith Underwood, 50, formerly of
Newbern, died Sunday, May 4, at his home.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 6, at 11
a.m. at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in
Newbern with Bro. Todd Walker officiating.
Burial followed in Zion Cemetery in
Elbridge.
Mr. Underwood was born July 21, 1957 in
Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was a heavy
equipment operator. He was preceded in death
by one stepbrother, Wicky Bargery.
Survivors include: his mother, Norma Willis
of Newbern; his father, Melvin (Billie)
Underwood; his companion, Carol Wauagh of
Huntingdon; one daughter, Brooke Underwood
of Dyersburg; one sister, Cindy Brock of
Newbern; two stepsisters, Laurie Myers of
Newbern and Shari Stevens of Jackson; one
brother, Rodney Underwood of Obion.
JAMES WILLIAM "BILL" MANESS
1946-2008
ATWOOD: James William "Bill" Maness, 61,
died Saturday, May 3, at his home. Funeral
services were Tuesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at
Bodkin Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie
Wilkerson officiating. Burial followed in
Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood.
Mr. Maness was born July 17, 1946 in Decatur
County. He was a retired truck driver and
member of First United Pentecostal Church in
Humboldt. He was preceded in death by his
father, Lloyd Maness.
Survivors include: his wife, Meredith Lisa
Maness of Atwood; his mother, Evelyn (Bobby)
Mathis of Atwood; two daughters, Angie
Frazier of Jackson and Brandie Maness of
Trezevant; four sons, Billy Joe Maness of
Memphis, Larry Dean Maness of Oakfield,
Charles Maness and Harry Maness, both of
Atwood; one brother, Odell Maness of Gibson;
three sisters, Patsy Terry of Atwood, Peggy
Trull of Humboldt, and Murine Thompson of
Spring Creek; nine grandchildren and one
great-granddaughter.
FRANCES TURNER HARRIS
1911-2008
FRANKLIN: Frances Turner Harris, 97, died
Sunday, May 4, at Good Shepherd Hospital in
Longview, Texas. Graveside services are
Wednesday, May 7, at 2 p.m. at Shiloh
Cemetery in McKenzie.
Mrs. Harris was born January 3, 1911 in
Paris to the late William Claude Turner and
Attie Hemby Turner. She was a homemaker.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, George Bryson Harris.
Survivors include: one daughter, Caole (Ken)
Sharp of Salt Lake City, Utah; one son, John
(Barb) Harris of Longview, Texas; four
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Brummitt Funeral Home in McKenzie is in
