MCKENZIE (January 12) — In high school
basketball action, the West Carroll Lady War
Eagles defeated the McKenzie Lady Rebels
67-37 and the War Eagles defeated the Rebels
65-45.

West Carroll jumped out to a 11-5 lead after
the first period and outscored the Lady
Rebels 25-5 to extend their lead to 36-10 at
the half.
The Lady War Eagles outscored the Lady
Rebels 13-10 in the third period and surged
to a 49-20 lead before ultimately winning
67-37.
The Lady War Eagles were led offensively by
Emily Hall (15), Brittany Luther (12), Misty
Garmany (8) and Jessica Carter (8). Also
contributing scoring for West Carroll were
Whitney Foster (5), Madison Lane (5), Morgan
Woodard (5), Ashley Powell (4), Shanta
Emerson (3) and Danielle Crocker (2).
The Lady Rebels were led offensively by Zana
Carter (14) and Travatia Bowden (7). Also
contributing scoring were Mignon Salameh
(6), Morgan Limbaugh (6), Amber Nunnery (2)
and Evan Hugins (2).

War Eagles 65, Rebels 45. Despite Rebel
Shabree Payne’s solid six-point performance,
McKenzie trailed West Carroll 12-9 at the
end of the first period.
Spurred by War Eagle Thomas Greer’s
eight-point performance, West Carroll
outscored the Rebels 15-7 to lead 27-16 at
the half.
The War Eagles came out firing in the second
half, quickly reeling off a 7-0 scoring
spree to lead 34-16 at the 6:06 mark of the
third period.
Paced by Payne’s 10-point performance,
McKenzie battled back to trail the War
Eagles 48-32 at the start of the fourth
period.
West Carroll’s Greer scored 11 points in the
final frame to seal the War Eagles 65-45
victory.
The War Eagles were led offensively by Greer
(29 points, two three-pointers), Troy
Williams (9) and Xavier Cunningham (9). Also
contributing scoring for West Carroll were
Brandon Luther (7), Clint McClain (7),
Hayden McClain (2) and Justin Scruggs (2).
McKenzie was led offensively by Payne (23),
Josh Brown (12 points, two three-pointers)
and Tyler Holt (10).
