ATWOOD — Action started with the Lady Golden Tide batting first. McCaig hit a single and Hamm and Edwards each hit a double to give their team an early 2-0 lead. The Lady War Eagles drew a walk but made no hits in the first inning of the March 13 game.

Trenton-Peabody went three up and three down in the top of the second inning. West Carroll’s only hit of the inning was a double from Misty Garmany as the Golden Tide held a 2-0 lead.

Following two consecutive groundouts in the third inning for Peabody, Jackson hit a single. She scored the sole run of the inning for her team. Brittany Luther and Morgan Woodard each singled and scored runs after an error by Peabody to bring the Lady War Eagles within a run, 3-2. Two fly outs and a groundout followed, to end the inning.

A lone single by Edwards was the only hit from Peabody for the inning. The bottom of the fourth saw singles from Garmany, Emily Hall, Abby Reed and Woodard as two runs scored to give West Carroll a 4-3 lead.

Due to three stolen bases and an error by the Lady War Eagles, the Lady Golden Tide re-took the lead, 5-4. Luther and Rachel Simko started off with two singles for West Carroll. A pop-up from Ashley Powell was converted for a double play by the Tide. With two outs, Misty Garmany singled. Hall swatted a double to send Garmany home to tie the game. Reed hit a double to bring Hall home, scoring the go-ahead run. The fifth inning ended with West Carroll leading 6-5.

Edwards single was Peabody’s only hit of the sixth inning. Morgan Woodard made it on base with a well-placed bunt and stole a base. Luther hit towards the outfield was caught for her team’s second out. Woodard tried to steal home but was thrown out to end the sixth inning.

The Lady Golden Tide went three up and three down to bring the game to a close, as West Carroll won 6-5
