(Huntingdon - May 6) Mustang field was the site of the last semi-final game of the District 13A baseball tournament as the McKenzie Rebels hosted the Central Tigers.

Central sent three up and three down to begin the first inning.

Rebel Drew Brown led off with a double and Rusty Chapman hit a pop-fly for the first out. Derek Carr and Nick Chappell hit singles to load the bases. Parker Jones brought Brown and Carr home with a single to give McKenzie a 2-0 lead. Tyler Reeder struck out and Tyler Holt hit a pop-fly to end the first inning.

McKenzie starting pitcher, Parker Jones, struck out Tiger Chad Jordan at the top of the second inning. The next three batters hit consecutive singles to load the bases. Unfazed, Jones proceeded to strike out Alex McCauley and Dylan Casteel to retire the side.

Starting Tiger pitcher Will Roberts struck out Luke Anderson to begin the bottom of the second inning. He then walked Kyle Kirk, struck out Brown and forced a groundout from Chapman to close the second inning.

Ethan Lee hit a double and Nick Bryant hit a single for the Tigers, but Jones tallied two strikeouts and forced a groundout in the top of the third inning.

Carr and Chappell led off the bottom of the third with a single each. Jones sent Carr home for a 3-0 McKenzie lead. Reeder singled and Holt struck out as the third inning came to a close.

The fourth inning began promising for the Tigers as Billy Stevens led off with a double and made it to third base on a sacrifice. Stevens was left stranded, as Jones continued his dominance with another pair of strikeouts.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Rebels pulled away. Following outs from Anderson and Kirk, Brown and Chapman singled to set up the play of the game. With two outs and two on, Carr smacked a three-run homer deep towards centerfield that cleared the fence, extending the Rebel lead to 6-0. Chappell hit a single and Jones grounded out to close the inning.

Jarrett Watson led off the fifth inning with a single, but was thrown out at second on Lee’s single. Bryant recorded a RBI with a double, denting McKenzie’s 6-1 lead. Jones threw another strikeout and Bubba Matlock hit a groundout to retire the side.

The Rebels put two runners on base as Reeder was hit with a pitch and Kirk doubled. Holt, Anderson and Brown popped-up, leaving two stranded at the close of the fifth inning.

Both teams sent three up and three down in the sixth inning and Central ended the game with no hits and in the seventh as McKenzie advanced to face Huntingdon for the Regional Championship by a final score of 6-1.
