UNION CITY (May 12) McKenzie advanced to sub-state by eliminating the Union City Tornadoes, 9-6.

McKenzie pounded out 12 hits to score five runs in the second, one run in the third, one run in the fourth, one run in the fifth and one run in the ninth.

Rebel pitcher Parker Jones aided his winning cause at the plate with a clutch 3-4, double performance.

Also contributing offensively for McKenzie was Tyler Holt (2-4) and Luke Anderson (2-4, double).

With the win, McKenzie faces Huntingdon on Wednesday, May 14. The Mustangs battled before narrowly defeating Trenton, 7-6.

In Region 7 Softball action, the Lady Rebels battled gamely before being eliminated from post-season play by South Fulton, 8-5.
