Milan Wins Season Opener Against Huntingdon

Caleb Crocker scores a TD for the Mustangs

MILAN - Milan Bulldogs proved to be too much for the visiting Huntingdon Mustangs in the 53-27 victory. In a contest evenly matched during the first half, Milan pulled out all the stops after halftime to earn the victory in 2-A.

Milan put the first points in the board in just over a minute of play on a Jobronski Gilbert TD. The PAT failed and Milan led by six. Huntingdon soon lit the board with a 72-yard run by Kennon Holder. Caleb Crocker kicked the PAT to make the score 7-6 Huntingdon.

A Milan fumble on first down gave Huntingdon possession. Eleven plays later, including three first downs, the Mustangs were celebrating in the end zone on a Holder run. Crocker added the PAT to make the score 14-6 Huntingdon.

Milan marched down the field on its next possession, earned three first downs, and a TD by Justin Coleman. Gilbert added two on the conversion to make the score 14-14.

Huntingdon quarterback Colin Hatch fires a pass.

Huntingdon fumbled on its first play from scrimmage but regained possession on a pass interception by Frank Villalobos. Huntingdon moved slowly and turned the ball over on downs at Milan's 20 yard line. Milan monopolized and went 80 yards for a J.W. Williams T.D. Moody added the PAT for a score of 21-14.

Huntingdon again moved aggressively with passes to Thompson and Caleb Crocker, who punched it to make it 20-21.

Milan returned the kickoff for a TD by Tristen Pearson who netted 81 yards on return. Moody added the PAT for a score of 28-20 Milan.

The remainder of the game was controlled by Milan with three touchdowns by Gilbert, and one by Williams. Huntingdon's Crocker added six followed by a Perez kick to add the final seven points to Huntingdon's score.
