Jimmy Garcia, 55, of Bruceton, Tenn.,
died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Jackson-Madison County General
He was born September 18, 1958 in Belle
Meade, Tex., to the late Joe Garcia and Angelita Soto Garcia. He was
a welder for Advanced Metal Service, a member of St. Mary Catholic
Church and Knights of Columbus, and was a retired U.S. Army Staff
Sergeant. Mr. Garcia was also preceded in death by two stepsons,
Timmy Cahill and Terry Cahill.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy
McMackin Garcia; a daughter, Sonia Garcia of New York; two stepsons,
Michael Cahill of Paris, Tenn., and Rowdy McMackin of Memphis; a
sister, Hope Cahill of Tulia, Tex.; four brothers, Tony Garcia of
Albuquerque, New Mex., Richard Garcia of Plainview, Tex., Joe Garcia,
Jr., of San Marcos, Tex., and Alfonso Garcia of Tulia, Tex.; and
A service, with military honors, was
held February 13 at Bruceton Funeral Home Chapel, with Military
Chaplain Glen Jones officiating. Cremation followed.
Mildred Marie Kelly, 89, of
McLemoresville, Tenn., died Saturday, February 15, 2014, at
Huntingdon Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Kelly was born September 7, 1924,
to the late Wyle and Ora (Pafford) Holland. She is a member of the
McLemoresville Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by one
daughter, Doris Earnhardt, a grandson, Stephen Crocker, eight
brothers, and two sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 71
years, Mr. Troy Kelly; three daughters, Joyce (Randall) Crocker of
McLemoresville, Gina Smith of Nashville, and Pam (Tony) Hunley, of
Clarksburg, Tenn.; one son-in-law, Danny Earnhardt of McLemoresville;
five grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were February 17 at
the McLemoresville Baptist Church. Interment followed at Carroll
Memorial Gardens. Brother Bruce McCartney and Dr. John Adams
officiated the services.
Dilday-Carter Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
TERRY VANCE SHELL
Terry Vance Shell, 47, former employee
of Replogle Enterprises, died Monday, February 10, 2014 at his
residence in Gleason, Tenn.
He was born September 13, 1966 in
Huntingdon, Tenn., to Herman Shell and Helen Hudgins Shell.
He is survived by his father, Herman
Shell of Gleason, his mother, Helen Shell of McKenzie, Tenn., and a
brother, Mike Shell of McKenzie.
Funeral services for Mr. Shell were
February 15 at the Cedar Avenue Chapel of Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral
Home, with Brother Larry Moore officiating. Burial followed at New
Valley Cemetery, Gleason.
Anthony Earl Poole,
57, a steelworker at Republic Builders, died Thursday, February 13,
2014 at his residence in McLemoresville, Tenn.
He was born December 30, 1956 in
Clearwater, Flo., to the late Samuel Earl and Rebecca Jane Pace
Poole. He served as Local 8915 President, President of Jackson
Central Labor Council, Executive VP of Tennessee AFL-CIO, and served
on the boards of the West TN Workforce Investment, and Northwest TN
Workforce. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Angela
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Sutton Poole of
McLemoresville, and two sons, Ryan Poole of Columbia, Tenn., and
Chris Poole of Trenton, Tenn.
Funeral services were February 15 at
the McLemoresville First Methodist Church, with Brother Don Williams
officiating. Burial followed at McLemoresville Cemetery.
WILLIAM “BILL” GANT
William “Bill” Allen Gant, 91, of Clarksburg, Tenn.,
died Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Huntingdon Health and
Mr. Gant was born December 13, 1922 in
Hardin County, Tenn., to the late Alvia and Maggie (Creasy) Gant. He
was retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a member
of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church and was a United States Air
Corp WWII Veteran. He was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas
Allen Gant, three sisters, Bernice Barger, Ruth Spurgeon and Ann
McClure, and a brother, Robert Gant.
He is survived by his wife of
64 years, Mary Vonita Gant; one daughter, Charlotte Gant of Salt Lake
City, Utah; three sons, Billy Ray Gant of Pocahontas, Ill., Daniel
Gant (wife Jackie) and Tim Gant (wife Marion), both of Clarksburg;
and one brother, Tom Gant of Athens, Ala. He also leaves fifteen
grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and twelve

JC Gordon, 93, of Spring Creek, Tenn.,
died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Gordon was born
July 14, 1920 in Wayne County, Tenn., to the late Oscar Gordon and
Ada (Turnbo) Gordon. He retired from working as a fireman for the
Milan Arsenal in 1998 after 38 years of service and was a veteran,
serving in the Navy in the South Pacific on the USS Maryland
battleship. He earned his GED in 1985, when he was 65 years old. Mr.
Gordon was a Mason at Lodge #191 in Milan, and was a member of
Hickory Flat Methodist Church and also attended Cool Springs
Presbyterian Church and Lavinia Baptist Church. He is also preceded
in death by his wife, Birdie Lee Fortner Gordon, and two brothers,
William Clarke and John Clarke.
He is survived by two daughters,
Barbara Alguire (Bob) of Bartlett, Tenn., and Brenda White (Anthony)
of Spring Creek; three sons, Kenny Gordon (Melinda) of Cedar Grove,
Tenn., Jeff Gordon (Melissa) of Lexington, Tenn., and Phil Gordon
(Jenny) of Cedar Grove; and four sisters, Marcia Wildridge, Sue
Smith, Annie Jo Kemp, and Elise Humphrey. He also leaves 11
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were February 18 in
the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Hickory
Dallas Frank Barnett, 64, of McKenzie,
Tenn., died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Henry County Healthcare
Center, Paris, Tenn.
He was born May 5, 1949 in Winfield,
Kan., to Virgil and Viola Barnett. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator
for Shomaker Lumber Co. and also Replogle Enterprises.
He is survived by his fiance Darlene
Lee of McKenzie and two sisters, Della Barnett of Ohio and Doradean
Barnett of Alabama.
Graveside Services for Mr. Barnett will
be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at his residence on Field
Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
