TRENTON (October 14) — On Saturday, the City of Trenton honored longtime coach and city alderman, Frank Gibson. Pedestrian Park in downtown Trenton was The Frank Gibson Pedestrian Park. Gibson spearheaded the creation of Pedestrian Park, turning a vacant lot in the heart of the downtown area into what is now one of the most utilized and beautiful amenities the city has to offer. more

HUNTINGDON (October 19) — The Town of Huntingdon dedicated its government complex building in memory of long-time mayor and resident Dale R. Kelley on Thursday. A crowd of family and friends joined Huntingdon Mayor Nina Smothers for the dedication of the building. more

McKENZIE (October 11) — Torin and Paige Rouse of Kirksvillle, Missouri have a mission: to walk the lower 48 states of the United States. It will take four years to complete but with 13 states and 3,300 miles already, the couple and their border collie, Jack, are well on their way to completion. more
Alivia Green, a McKenzie High School graduate, attending Union University College of Pharmacy to obtain a Doctorate in Pharmacy was elected to serve as class president for the 2023-2024 year. As president, Alivia’s mission statement includes, “My vision is to create a strong sense of community and unity within our cohort, speak for the class as a whole, while following the guidelines as stated in the PSGA constitution, as well as encouraging and comforting my peers on harder days.” more
McKENZIE (October 5) — Members of the community came together for a ribbon cutting at the new facility for Christian Family Medicine and Pediatrics. The facility/group is part of the Fast Pace Urgent Care. more
Susan Dyer, a teacher at McKenzie High School in Carroll County, took part in the “Humanity of Leadership” program on Sept. 27 as part of the WestStar Leadership Program’s WestTeach Program. Participants in the WestTeach Program are K-12 teachers who are nominated by their principal who aspire to remain in the classroom but want to be a leader in their school and community. more

KAILUA-KONA, HI — An elite field of professional triathletes from around the globe is preparing to descend on Kailua-Kona, Hawaii for the first-ever women’s edition of the 2023 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship. On Saturday, October 14, the race will see, in addition to the pros, more than 2,000 age-group women swim, bike, and run in this iconic and historic location, just a few weeks after their male counterparts raced in Nice, France. more

James and Autumn Stephens of McKenzie announce the birth of their daughter, Myla Jane Stephens. The young lady was born September 5, 2023 at 6:59 p.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital of Union City. She weighed 6 pounds and 9 ounces and was 20 inches long. more

HUNTINGDON (September 9) — The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life fund-raising event was held Saturday after a three-year absence due to the COVID pandemic. The scaled-down event was a good start to reinvigorate the event that once raised significant funds for the eradication of cancer. more
