McKENZIE — Students who bring electronic devices to school do so at their own risk, reads McKenzie High School’s Electronic Devices Policy. Administration made a few changes to the policy for the 2023-24 school year, adding more leniency to device usage while still protecting students from inappropriate use.

McKENZIE (May 7) — Bethel University conferred 307 degrees on Saturday, May in the Crisp Arena on the McKenzie campus. Graduates were conferred degrees on the levels of Associates, Bachelors and Masters for both in-person and online students.

ATWOOD (July 5) — National Beta members from West Carroll Elementary and West Carroll Junior Senior High school worked over the last few months to prepare for the National Beta Convention. This summer, the two schools amassed sixteen national placements.

McKENZIE — One sure sign football season is near is when numerous middle school teams gather at Rebel Stadium on the first Saturday in August for the Annual Middle School Jamboree. This year’s event is August 6 starting at 4 p.m. Similar to last year, there will be two games going simultaneously on each end of the field.

MARTIN (July 18) — Several Carroll County students were awarded scholarships to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin for the 2023-24 academic year, according to Dr. James Mantooth, executive director, Office of Enrollment Services and Student Engagement. Some students awarded are incoming freshmen, and some are returning students.

McKENZIE (May 3) — The construction of a new multi-purpose building is one step closer following the action of the Board of Education of the McKenzie Special School District. The Board approved the issuance of debt, which allows the bond agent to seek buyers for the debt.
