HUNTINGDON (July 26) — After some animated discussion regarding Mayor Dale Kelley’s recommendation of Angela DeMaris to become executive director of the Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center, the council voted 4-3 to approve her for the position. DeMaris was serving as Director of Operations but had also been unofficially doing the theater director’s duties as well after Lori Nolen resigned. The position was not filled immediately due to the COVID pandemic. more
ATWOOD — The West Carroll Special School District school board voted unanimously to increase safety measures and hire an additional school safety officer during their meeting Thursday night, April 6. more
TENNESSEE (November 20) — Average gasoline prices in Tennessee have fallen 2.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.90/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 18.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 27.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 6.9 cents in the last week and stands at $4.28 per gallon. more

NASHVILLE (July 27) — The Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA) announced Dr. Jay Phipps, owner of four community pharmacy locations in McKenzie, Jackson, Huntingdon and Waverly, as the organization’s 2022-23 president. Dr. Phipps resides in McKenzie and is a Carroll County commissioner. more
