NASHVILLE — County unemployment rates dropped in a majority of Tennessee’s counties in November, according to new data from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Eighty-nine of the state’s 95 counties recorded lower rates for the month. more
DALLAS (December 28) — GasBuddy, a PDI company, today released its annual Fuel Price Outlook with some good news for drivers: expect lower gasoline and diesel prices in 2024. The outlook highlights key trends in gasoline and diesel prices, forecasting that, after two years of above average gas prices, 2024 will bring relief at the pump for consumers as several factors contribute to less of a pinch at the pump. GasBuddy expects the yearly national average will drop from $3.51 per gallon this year to $3.38 in 2024. more

McKENZIE (December 19) — Fans at the McKenzie-Milan prep basketball game on Tuesday, December 19 at the McKenzie High School Gymnasium, witnessed history when Savannah Davis, a McKenzie senior and Middle Tennessee State University signee, set a new state scoring record for the number of 3-point goals in a single game while she also matched the MHS high-scoring record for a single game. more

Commencement exercises began at 1 p.m. at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 16835 Highland Drive, McKenzie. McKENZIE (December 19) — McKenzie High School football standout Marquez Taylor is transferring from Austin Peay to the University of Texas El Paso (UTEP). As part of the coaching carousel, Austin Peay’s Head Coach Scotty Walden, a native Texan, was offered the top spot at UTEP. Taylor announced Tuesday he was leaving the Governors to join Walden and the Miners team. more
GLEASON (December 22) — After 50 years of service with the Bank of Gleason, Martha Arnold will step aside as president and serve in a consulting role. December 31, 2023, will be her last day as president and Preston Frazier will move into the role. Martha has served in this role since 2011, when at that time she became the first female President of the Bank of Gleason. more
