McKENZIE (October 12) — After two months of discussion, the McKenzie City Board of Mayor and Council voted against the de-annexation of Holland Farms, LLC by a split vote of 4-3. Voting against de-annexation were Councilpersons Bobby Young, Carol Armpriest and Tom Alexander; Mayor Ryan Griffin broke the tie with a no vote. Voting in favor of the Hollands were Councilpersons Charles Pruneau, Josefina Batton and Vice Mayor Jessie Townes. more
Kerry Scott Killebrew, 72, of Dresden died March 20, 2024 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday, March 23, 2024 in the Dresden Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m., burial followed in Sunset Cemetery. more

McKENZIE (November 11) — Continuing a long-standing tradition, McKenzie High School hosted area veterans and presented a program to honor their service to America. The 10 a.m. ceremony on Veterans Day is conducted annually by the Student Government Association and features student presenters, the MHS Band and a featured speaker who served in the military. more
McKenzie and Huntingdon are gearing up for the annual Christmas parades taking place this season. The Big Jingle Parade rolls into McKenzie along Stonewall and Cedar Streets on Saturday, December 3, at 4 p.m. Participant lineup is 3:30 p.m. in the McKenzie Middle School parking lot, 80 Woodrow Avenue. more

HUNTINGDON (September 26) — Recreational vehicles can no longer be used as the principal use of any property inside the municipal limits of Huntingdon. The Huntingdon Mayor and Town Council approved the amendment during its September 26 meeting. more

HUNTINGDON (February 15) — The Town of Huntingdon’s revenues and expenditures are trending well through December 31, 2022. In the fiscal year, ending June 30, 2023, the town is facing some significant capital outlays for a new fire pumper, police cars (SUVs), and vehicles for all departments. On top of that, Huntingdon, like many government agencies, is having difficulty recruiting and retaining police officers. more

The following items are on the agenda: an amendment to the General Fund Budget for Civil Defense Insurance Recovery Funds in the amount of $16,570.90; an amendment to the General Fund Budget for Grants for the Carroll County Election Commission in the amount of $16,402.59; an amendment to the General Fund Budget for Change to Grant for Sheriffs Office in the amount of $5,000; and a resolution to reappoint Stacey McCaleb to the Carroll County Health and Educational Facilities Board. more
TREZEVANT (November 8) — The Trezevant City Board met in regular session on Tuesday, November 8 discussing and taking action on a few items. The board approved a $30,000 loan to help purchase new playground equipment for the city park. more
