McKENZIE (February 8) — Bethel University was the site of a meeting point for the beginning of discussions about education ties to the BlueOval City Project with Ford Motors and the SK battery pack corporation. The summit was initiated by the City of McKenzie to open dialogue between Ford and community leaders. Included in the luncheon were representatives from the McKenzie Special School District and Board of Education, the Carroll County Board of Education, TCAT-McKenzie, Bethel University along with city and county officials.

McKENZIE — Bethel University is hosting the annual Miss Bethel University Volunteer and the Miss Carroll County Volunteer pageant on November 19, at 6 p.m. in the Dickey Fine Arts Building on Bethel’s campus. This combined pageant acts as a preliminary for the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Scholarship pageant held each July in Jackson. Deadline for application is Tuesday, November 15.

Working in newspaper business and political area, you come across a huge assortment of folks. The longer you’re in the business you see multiple generations of folks have a tendency to follow in their forefather’s footsteps. In the April 25, 2023 edition of The Banner, local students bore witness to The Tennessee Civil Court of Appeals. One of the justices on the panel was Frank Clement, Jr. son of former Tennessee Governor Frank G. Clement. A few years back while I was a member of the McKenzie City Council, I had the privilege to welcome the former governor’s other son, Bob Clement, to town.
