Gleason Rotary Holds Pancake Breakfast
Gleason (February 4) — The Gleason Rotary Club held its annual pancake breakfast in conjunction with the city’s summer sports registration. Within four hours, the Rotarians fed over 200 hungry individuals. The morning breakfast brought crowds in from Weakley, Carroll and Henry County.
Despite cold temperatures, steady crowds lined up for a heaping plate of pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy. Jason Martin, president-elect of the Gleason Rotary Club, said he was proud of the turnout. Martin stated, “It gives us a good feeling to see this many people coming out in support of the Gleason Rotary Club. Our new and continuing projects could not exist without the community. We thank each and every one that bought a ticket and visited with us today.”
Events like the pancake breakfast are instrumental in funding the club’s community projects. The Gleason Rotary Club is a driving force within the Gleason community. The club’s community involvement includes owning and maintaining the Gleason Rotary Senior Center, sponsoring the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, support of the Gleason Parks program and the construction of an emergency air evacuation helipad slated to begin in the spring of 2017.
The Gleason Rotary Club meets every Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Simply Southern Café.
