UPCOMING CARROLL COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY EVENTS

Fourth Annual Tour de Paws, Saturday, September 9

— A bicycle fun ride that supports the Carroll County Humane Society will be held in McKenzie. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the ride starts at 8 a.m. in McKenzie City Park at 570 Como Street. Riders will travel through Carroll and Henry counties in Tennessee and Calloway County, Kentucky. Ride lengths include 20-, 32-, 64and 100-mile rides. Pet Memorial Luminaria Ceremony, Sunday, September 10 — The Carroll County Humane Society will be hosting a memorial ceremony at 7 p.m. in observance of National Pet Memorial Day. CCHS will be offering luminaries for $5 each to honor pets past and present. These are available at the shelter location during business hours: 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday or Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. You can also purchase your luminary via PayPal.me/cchstn. Programs will be distributed at the luminary lighting with the names of pets being honored or memorialized. Light refreshments will be served.

All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast, Saturday, September 16, 7-10 a.m., Carroll Bank & Trust Community Room in Huntingdon. All you care to eat: bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, scrambled eggs, assorted jellies and jams, juice, milk, and coffee. Adults $8; children under 10 $4.

Pawsta Party, Saturday, September 16, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Carroll Bank & Trust Community Room in Huntingdon — Join us for a pawsta bar of spaghetti or fettuccine with options of red sauce or alfredo along with meat and veggie options. Salad, bread, dessert and drinks are included. Cost is $10 per adult and $5 per child. We have the opportunity to raise matching funds for a grant from Tennessee Spay/Neuter Coalition. If we raise $1000, they match us $1000. This grant will fund spay and neuter surgeries for community-owned dogs and cats. Please come out and help us meet this goal so that we can receive this grant.

BARNES-ERVIN REUNION

The Barnes-Ervin Reunion is Saturday, September 9 at Henry Civic Center, 11 to 3;00 p.m. The meal will be add a dish. Family is expected, friends are welcome.

MCKENZIE SENIOR PARENT MEETING

McKenzie High School is hosting the annual Senior Parent Meeting on Thursday, September 7, 6 p.m. in the MHS Gymnasium. Sheila Ridley, guidance counselor, will discuss college applications, ACT retake, FAFSA, early graduation, and TnPromise.

SPAGHETTI PLATES AT VFW SEPTEMBER 23

Spaghetti plates are at VFW Post 4939 in McKenzie on September 23, 11 to 5:30 p.m. $6.00 per plate.

MCKENZIE REBELS BOYS BASKETBALL FIFTH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

McKenzie Rebels Boys Basketball Fifth Annual Golf Tournament at Carroll Lake Golf Course is Saturday, September 23. Teetime for the event is 8 a.m. Cost is $200 per team. First place prize is $200. The event includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, and a chance to meet the 2017-18 Rebel Boys Basketball Team! $100 hole sponsorship with other sponsorship opportunities including prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt. BBQ AT MACEDONIA FIRE DEPARTMENT

Macedonia Fire Department is hosting a barbecue on Saturday, September 16, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The price is $8.00 for sandwich, baked beans, slaw, dessert, and drink. Eat in or carry out. Event is at Macedonia Community Center near McKenzie.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS NORTHWEST TENNESSEE EDC

The Board of Directors of the Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council meets Friday, September 15 at 10 a.m. in the Head Start Central Office, 938C Walnut Avenue, McKenzie.

FAIRVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH HOMECOMING

Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, located off Highway 22 between McKenzie and Huntingdon, invites everyone to attend Homecoming 2017 on Sunday, September 10. Brother Derek Frezee from Bruceton will preacher at 11 a.m. Lunch is at noon with singing to follow (around 1:30 p.m. featuring the Thomas family from Huntingdon.

MCKENZIE FFA FIRST BLAST OUT HUNGER

On Saturday, September 16, McKenzie FFA will present its first Blast Out Hunger to benefit Second Harvest and Hunters for the Hungry at Carroll County Shooting Sports Park located at 680 McAdoo Park on Cemetery Lane in Huntingdon. Price to participate is $50 per shooter or $250 per five-person team. At 9:30 a.m., 12 teams will start followed by the start of 12 additional teams at 1 p.m. The multiple discipline shoot features 25 trap 25 skeet and 50 sporting clays. Trophies will be given to Cream of the Crop shooters (top three in each division) for women, men and team. Also featured is a pistol side match (Advisor category also) with fourperson team, 40 rounds-$10 per shooter (ammunition is provided). WATER AEROBICS RETURNS TO BETHEL POOL

Water aerobics have returned to Bethel pool each Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m.

LONG HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH PERISHABLE FOOD GIVE AWAY

Long Heights Baptist Church Perishable Food Give Aways are on the second and fourth Wednesday night each month at 8 p.m. at the church located at 260 Old Paris Road in McKenzie.

MCKENZIE INDUSTRIAL BOARD MEETS MONTHLY

McKenzie Industrial Board meets the second Tuesday of each month, 6 p.m., in the former railroad depot building.

GRIEFSHARE SUPPORT GROUP SERIES

GriefShare support group begins its first 13-week cycle Wednesday, August 16 at 6:30 p.m. at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie. Those seeking help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member or friend are welcome to begin attending at any point. Each session is self-contained, so it is not necessary to attend in sequence. Missed sessions can be made up during the next 13-week cycle. To register or for more information, call 731-352-2440.

OVERCOMERS SUPPORT GROUP

Overcomers is a support group to help individuals and families overcome and manage addiction, anger, depression, codependency and alcoholism. United Neighbors is accepting summer clothing at this time. Please be sure those are clean and in good condition. If the bin is full, please take items to other donation boxes.

Food: crackers, cereal, ravioli, spaghetti noodles, and evaporated milk.

Personal Hygiene: Deodorant, toothpaste and brushes, bar soap and shampoo.

Assistance and shopping are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Wednesday. The store is closed Wednesday afternoon and Friday-Sunday.
