HUNTINGDON ELKS LODGE HOOP SHOOT
Huntingdon Elks Lodge will conduct its annual “Hoop Shoot” on Saturday, December 2 at 3 p.m. at the Huntingdon Middle School gymnasium. The contest is open to all boys and girls ages 8 through 13. The contests are in three age divisions: 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 for boys and girls. Your age is determined on April 1, 2018. CARROLL COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY ANGEL TREE
The Carroll County Humane Society hosts its annual Angel Tree beginning on December 1 and continuing through December 23. Please come by the shelter at 21822 Highway 22 in McKenzie and choose your very own angel. The shelter is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and on Saturday 10 a.m.-3 a.m.
Every animal in the care of CCHS will be represented on the tree along with the animals in the care of the McKenzie City Shelter. All gifts should be delivered to CCHS no later than 1 p.m. on December 23. CCHS will be closed on December 24 and 25.
A general list of items needed by CCHS cats/kittens include: Purina Cat Chow, Purina Kitten Chow, canned cat and kitten food (pate style), cat treats, cat beds, scratching posts, cat toys and baby blankets.
For the puppies/dogs: Diamond Maintenance Dog Food and Diamond Puppy Food (both of these can be found at Power Supply/McKenzie Feed and Grain, Tractor Supply or Rural King); canned dog and puppy food, Made in the USA dog treats, sturdy toys (like Kong or Nylabone brand), rope toys, tennis balls and toys for small dogs/puppies, fleece throws (these can usually be found at Wal-Mart for around $2-$3) and cedar or pine shavings.
MONDAY ADVENT SERVICES
Monday Advent Services are Mondays following Thanksgiving at Gleason UMC. The service starts at noon with a guest speaker followed by food at 12:30 p.m. Pastor Alan Trull and the congregation invite everyone to attend. “Breakfast in Bethlehem” is Saturday, December 2 from 8-10 a.m. in the Calvary Tabernacle Fellowship Hall. Paris and Henry County is holding an Operation Christmas. Their mission is to provide Christmas gifts to children that have families that are facing financial hardships during the holidays. They also provide for the treasured elderly who have no family around for the holidays. You can donate items for Christmas packages for the children and the elderly by placing new and gently used items into a drop box at T.A.R.P. located at 1027 Mineral Wells Avenue in Paris. Elves are needed to help with wrapping and the party. Santa will be giving out gifts.
