Huntingdon’s Main Street Christmas is Saturday, December 9
Join The Dixie and the Town of Huntingdon on December 9, 2017, as they officially embark upon the Christmas season with Main Street Christmas! An annual street festival around the historic court square, Main Street Christmas abounds with the quaint charm of hometown Christmases past. Live nativity, carolers, open shops, hot chocolate, Santa and an official tree lighting where the community welcomes Christmas together is sure to put you in the Christmas spirit.
Beginning at 2 p.m., this year’s Main Street Christmas will include: Pictures with Santa by A. Wilson Photography, 1:30-4:30 p.m. (outdoors, weather permitting) Caroling on The Dixie Stage, 2-5 p.m.
Caroling on the Courthouse steps, 2-5 p.m.
Live Nativity, 2-5 p.m.
ISTEA Train, 2-4 p.m.
It’s A Wonderful Life showing at the Court Theatre, 4 p.m. (Free Admission) Holiday Concert with Steven Whitson, 4 p.m. (First Presbyterian Church of Huntingdon- the church will host an open house from 4-7 p.m. with refreshments and nativity displays.) The Lighting of The Tree at City Hall, 5:15 p.m.
Holiday Characters on the Square (including Buddy the Elf), 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Annual Christmas Parade, 6:30 p.m.
The Colonial Tea Room will host Mrs. Claus all afternoon. Children can help decorate cookies, make reindeer food, have their faces painted and write a letter to Santa to place in the North Pole Mailbox, all while sipping on hot chocolate topped with snowmen from the North Pole. $5 for supplies.
Local shops will be open with Christmas specials and giveaways throughout the day. FirstBank will have vendors set up in the lobby at the Main Branch on Main Street. Clark Street Baptist Church will have food and Christmas treats at the FirstBank Community Building.

To participate in the Annual Christmas Parade, call the Huntingdon Safety Dispatch, 731-986-5310. Registration will close noon, December 8. Parade categories are band, float, horse and rider, motorized vehicle, antique vehicle, antique tractor, and miscellaneous (ATVs, motorcycles, bicycles, etc.).
Parade route will begin on West Main Street at Carroll Bank and Trust and go around the south side of the courthouse, and east on Main Street. It will turn on 5th Avenue and conclude in that area.
Streets will close to traffic on the Court Square at 1 p.m. on December 9.
