Bobby Gee’s Celebrates New Location with Grand Opening
McKENZIE (January 3) — Bobby Gee’s Restaurant celebrated the opening of its new location on Wednesday, January 3. Bobby and Cindy Gaylord relocated their business to S. Main and Barksdale on October 31 after originally opening five years earlier in the former Polar Bar building on South Highland.
Cindy said the 1950-60’s themed restaurant was a dream of theirs and aided by her father, who had lots of the circa memorabilia for decorations. The Gaylords wanted a business in which they could work together, so that prayed about leaving formal careers and opening their first restaurant.
The new location featured even more memorabilia than the first and seats 80 patrons as compared to 40 at the previous location. The memorabilia is in keeping with era of food, which is prepared by Cindy, Bobby, and Devin Towne, the cooks. Daughter Julia Towne helps serve the patrons.
“We love it,” said Cindy of the new location. “It took a few weeks to get used to it.”
City officials and the business community helped with the grand opening celebration by cutting a ribbon commemorating the occasion. Cindy said they signed a 10year lease with landlord Greg Blackburn. After that, they hope their family will continue the business.
