PAWS FOR A CAUSE 5K

The Paws for a Cause 5K series in McKenzie is Sunday, March 4 from 10 a.m.-Noon at the city park, 570 Como Street. This family/ dog friendly event is a must have on your racing/walking calendar. This 5K will benefit the Carroll County Humane Society. Bring your dogs, on a leash, and help support CCHS, get some exercise and have some fun!

All registrants receive a custom finishers medal and T-shirt along with some great swag. Most importantly, you will be helping to raise funds for CCHS and help support its mission. Get all the details and register at www.pfac5k.run.

Paws for a Cause 5K benefits local animal welfare charities across the country. Sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and their Vodka for Dog People program, the event series brings communities together for a day of fun, all in support of our furry friends.

SINGING AT UMC MCLEMORESVILLE

The Bethel Renaissance Quartet will sing at United Methodist Church, 1800 College Street, McLemoresville, on January 28 at 6 p.m. A potluck dinner is at 5 p.m. Come and enjoy the fun, everyone is invited.

FIRST BAPTIST IN BRUCETON CHILI SUPPER

MCKENZIE’S ANNUAL CHOCOLATE TOUR

McKenzie’s annual Chocolate Tour is Friday, February 3. Tickets are $5 and will be sold in advance. Ticket holders will vote for the best chocolates, and the winners will be recognized. To participate or for more information, call Jennifer Waldrup at 731-352-2292.

MCKENZIE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING RESCHEDULED

The McKenzie Special School District Board of Education monthly meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 6 had be changed to Thursday, February 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the board office at 114 Bell Avenue.

FOSTER CARE OPEN HOUSE

COUNTY ELECTION COMMISSION TO MEET

The Carroll County Election Commission meets Tuesday, January 23 2018, 6:30 p.m., for its quarterly business meeting. The meeting will be in the Election Commission Office at 625 High Street, Suite 113, Huntingdon.

The agenda includes: discussing poll workers for 2018 elections; discussing the May 1, 2018 Republican Primary; and, open the floor for a public forum. If you wish to address the County Election Commission, during the meeting, please contact the Election Office at least 24 hours before the meeting to appear on the agenda.

HISTORY OF CARROLL COUNTY GUITAR MEN II

“The History of Carroll County- Guitar Men II” is Tuesday, January 23 at McKenzie’s Park Theatre at 6 p.m. This forum is a continuation of The first “Guitar Men” show presented in November 2017. Notable musicians to be highlighted include Glyn Jones, Don Page, Sammy Butler and Dale and Leslie Cooper.

CARROLL COUNTY TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

The McKenzie Table Tennis Club will host the “Best of Carroll County” Table Tennis Tournament on Saturday, February 17 at 10 a.m. at the McKenzie Farmers Market Building. The event is for Carroll County residents. Entry fee is $10; trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers. Entries must be received by Wednesday, February 14. Long Heights Baptist Church Perishable Food Giveaways are on the second and fourth Wednesday night each month at 8 p.m. at the church located at 260 Old Paris Road in McKenzie.

McKenzie Industrial Board meets the second Tuesday of each month, 6 p.m., in the former railroad depot building.

PING PONG IN MCKENZIE

Come to the McKenzie Farmers Market, 2451 Cedar Street, every Monday at 6 p.m. for Ping Pong. Beginners and experts are welcome, just show up with a paddle. There is no cost.

OVERCOMERS SUPPORT GROUP

Overcomers is a support group to help individuals and families overcome and manage addiction, anger, depression, codependency and alcoholism. Personal Hygiene: Deodorant, toothpaste and brushes, bar soap and shampoo.

Assistance and shopping are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Wednesday. The store is closed Wednesday afternoon and Friday-Sunday.
