GLEASON SCHOOL PAGEANTS

March 17 is the date of the Little Mr. and Miss Gleason, 5 p.m., Junior Miss Gleason, 6 p.m., Miss Gleason, 7 p.m. at the Dudley Sanders Memorial Gym at Gleason School. Entry fee is $25, application deadline is March 9. Applications are available at the school office.

CAPITOL TALK WITH REPRESENTATIVE ANDY HOLT

Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Capitol Talk with Andy Holt on Friday, March 9 noon at the Chamber Office in Huntingdon. RSVP by noon Tuesday, March 6 by calling 731-986-4664. A meal is $7 per person. Holt will speak from 12:20 to until 1 p.m.

CARL PERKINS CENTER ANNUAL DINNER, AUCTION

The Carroll County Carl Perkins Center presents its 14th annual dinner and auction on Saturday, March 10 at the Vera Low Center on Bethel’s campus. A silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m.

24-7 Band will provide the entertainment. Tickets are $40 per person. Business casual attire is recommended. Buy tickets from the Center, 50 Stone Ridge Cove, Huntingdon, or from any advisory board member.

TENTH ANNUAL GARY ‘FUD’ GOOCH MEMORIAL

The tenth annual Gary “Fud” Gooch Memorial BBQ and Rook Tournament is Friday, March 9 at the Viva Dee Bolen Yuma Community Center. Rib or chicken plates are $8, served beginning at 5 p.m. Rook begins at 7 p.m. First through fourth place will receive a trophy. Proceeds go to the community center. Cooking will be Ricky “BBQ” Wood.

MISS HOPE 2018 PAGEANT

The Miss Hope 2018 pageant to benefit Carroll County Relay For Life is Saturday, April 7 in the Huntingdon Middle School cafetorium at 199 Browning Avenue, Huntingdon. Doors open at 1 p.m.; pageant begins at 2 p.m. with the 0-12 month group. Following will be 13-23 months, 2-3 years, 4-5 years, 6-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-15 years and 1621 years. The beauty pageant is $20; additional categories (Best Dressed, Prettiest Hair and Prettiest Smile) are $5 each. Enter all categories for $30. Contestants are asked to be dressed and ready ten minutes prior to your group time. Queens in each category over 6 years qualify for the 2018 Strawberry Festival. All festival rules apply. Admission to the pageant is $5 for ages 3 and up; children under 3 are admitted for free. For more information, contact LaTasha Woodell at 731695-3793.

VALE COMMUNITY CENTER ST. PATRICK’S CELEBRATION

The Vale Community Center is hosting a “Luck of the Irish – St. Patrick’s Celebration” on Saturday, March 17 at the center located at 26165 Highway 114 north of Hollow Rock from 3-7 p.m. Come join the fun and enjoy the delicious Irish stew, bread, dessert and drink for only $7. Children ten and under eat for half price. Music will be provided by A Touch of Grey. Wear green to be eligible for door prizes. All proceeds benefit the community center upkeep. NWTN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO MEET

The Board of Directors of Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council holds its regularly scheduled quarterly meeting Friday, March 16 at 10 a.m. at the Northwest TN Head Start/Early Head Start Central Office at 938C Walnut Avenue West, McKenzie.

MCKENZIE YOUTH BASEBALL SIGNUPS

McKenzie Youth Baseball signups are March 10 from 8 a.m. to Noon at City Hall. Signup fee is $50 per child or $100 per family.

UPCOMING CARROLL COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY EVENTS

BOW WOW AT THE BARN II, Saturday, March 10 from 6-9 p.m. at The Venue at Waddell Place — Tickets are now on sale at CCHS, Huntingdon Animal Clinic and Paris Vet Clinic. Tickets are $25 each and include admittance, entertainment by The Flashback Band, food by Cash’s Woodfired Pizza, desserts, beverages and two drink tickets. Please help by sponsoring the event. HUNTINGDON SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET

The Huntingdon Special School District Board of Education meets Monday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at the board office at 585 High Street.

WEAKLEY COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY TO MEET

Weakley County Democrats will meet Tuesday, March 13, 6:30 p.m. at the Sharon Senior Center, 207 E. Main Street, Sharon. Everyone is invited to attend.

REVIVAL AT GLEASON FIRST UNITED METHODIST

Gleason United Methodist Church is holding a revival on March 18-20 with Evangelist Jacie Fincher. A fellowship meal is at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Pastor Allan Trull and congregation invite everyone to attend. Finchers will provide the singing on Sunday. Services begin nightly at 7 p.m.

2018 MISS TATER TOWN PAGEANTS

The annual Tater Town Pageants are Saturday, March 10, at the Gleason School Gymnasium, beginning at 1 p.m. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. Categories for boys and girls are: 0 thru 11 months; 1 year olds; 2 year olds; 3 year olds; 4 and 5 year olds; and 6 thru 9 year olds. Older categories include the Pre-Teen Miss Tater Town for girls ages 10-12. Next will be the Jr. Miss Pageant for girls ages 13-15. The finale of the evening will be the Miss Tater Town Pageant for ages 16-21. Pageant winners qualify for the West Tennessee Strawberry Pageants. Entry fees for all pageants will be $20. McKenzie Industrial Board meets the second Tuesday of each month, 6 p.m., in the former railroad depot building.

PING PONG AT MCKENZIE FARMERS MARKET

Come to the McKenzie Farmers Market, 2451 Cedar Street, every Monday at 6 p.m. for Ping Pong. Beginners and experts are welcome, just show up with a paddle. There is no cost.

OVERCOMERS SUPPORT GROUP

Overcomers is a support group to help individuals and families overcome and manage addiction, anger, depression, codependency and alcoholism. MCKENZIE-CARROLL COUNTY UNITED NEIGHBORS

United Neighbors is accepting summer clothing at this time. Please be sure those are clean and in good condition. If the bin is full, please take items to other donation boxes.

Food: crackers, cereal, ravioli, spaghetti noodles, and evaporated milk.

Personal Hygiene: Deodorant, toothpaste and brushes, bar soap and shampoo.

Assistance and shopping are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Wednesday. The store is closed Wednesday afternoon and Friday-Sunday.

Call 731-352-0547 with any questions. Donation hours: during store hours. Please no glass or boxes in the bin. Do not leave items outside!

OLD UNION CEMETERY ANNUAL MEETING, CLEANING
