McKenzie Police Reports
Violation of Order of Protection — Officer Kyle Beauchamp charged Franchot Montrell Grant, 37, Jackson with violation of an order of protection after an incident in McKenzie on February 28 on U.S. 79 According to the report, Grant was stopped for speeding on U.S. 79 at approximately 8:14 a.m. for speeding. He said his female passenger, who he claimed was his sister, needed emergency care at McKenzie Regional Hospital. Beauchamp followed Grant to the hospital, performed a computer check on Grant, and learned he had an order of protection issued by his wife, who was in actuality the passenger needing emergency care.
Grant was issued a citation for speeding and transported to Carroll County Jail for violation of the order of protection.
Child Abuse/Neglect, Domestic Assault — Officer Paul Eddlemon charged Christopher Trull, 31, of Milan with driving on a revoked license, child abuse, and domestic assault following an incident on February 27 at 3 p.m.
According to Eddlemon’s report, he and Officer Jasmin Burgess had a report of a child being struck in the face by a male adult and a female adult pushing the child into a seat.
The vehicle stopped at a business along U.S. 79 when the two officers were able to speak to the adults and the child. The adults were separated so the officers could have separate conversations about the incident another driver witnessed. The adults each said the child strikes himself in the face. After interviewing both adults, Eddlemon charged the male with the abovelisted offenses. Trull’s license was revoked for a DUI offense in Gibson County. The Department of Children’s Services was also alerted about the incident.
Driving on Suspended — Officer Brandon Leek charged Jamie Latrell Bogan, 20, McKenzie, on March 2 for speeding and learned his license was suspended. The officer could smell marijuana, so he asked the three passengers to exit. Officer Leek found a bottle of hydrocodone was located on the passenger side. Bogan was cited into General Sessions for speeding, driving on a suspended license, possession of Schedule II controlled substance, and violation of the financial responsibility law.
Driving on Revoked/Speeding — Officer Steven Scott charged Jason William Creasy, 38, of McKenzie with driving on a revoked license, first offense, and warned him for speeding after a March 3 traffic stop. He was cited into court.
Vandalism/Dog at Large
— Officer Jeremiah Brooks investigated a report of damage to the inventory of storage sheds in front of Merchants Outlet Mall caused by a dog scratching and chewing on the vacant buildings.
