A Spring Arts & Crafts Barn Sale and Bridal Consignment is Saturday and Sunday, March 1718 at The Venue at Waddell Place, 894 Joy Sparks Rd, McKenzie. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. (Bridal Consignment is Sunday only) Admission is $5 Saturday and $3 Sunday; kids 10 and under will be admitted for free. There will be bouncy houses on Saturday.
The indoor/outdoor event includes arts and crafts, vintage goods, boutique clothing, bridal consignment items, food, music and fun for the whole family!

SENATOR STEVENS TOWN HALL ON SCHOOL SAFETY
Senator John Stevens is hosting a town hall meeting on school safety at The Dixie Performing Arts Center on March 15, 7 p.m. In light of developments of the past few weeks, the senator is inviting parents, teachers, and other concerned citizens to join a group of community and school officials to have an open discussion on student safety. Current school policies will be discussed and opinion on policies going forward will be a topic of discussion.
WEST CARROLL BOARD TO HOLD MEETING ON SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER
West Carroll School Board is holding a meeting on March 22, 6 p.m. at the central office in Atwood. On the agenda is the discussion and possible discussion of a school resource officer (police officer) for the school. Also, the board will discuss, approve Destination Imagination to to attend competitions and conferences.
5K RUN/WALK FOR ROCKY BOLEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
A 5K run/walk is Saturday, March 31, beginning at 9 a.m. to benefit the Rocky Bolen Memorial Scholarship Fund. Bolen was a Huntingdon student who drowned. Early fee is $20 per participant. PARKER’S CROSSROADS BATTLEFIELD WORK DAY IS APRIL 7
The Parker’s Crossroads Battlefield Association and the Civil War Trust are planning April 7, 2018 for Park Day, a day of hands-on historic preservation and volunteering.
Volunteers will meet at the Parker’s Crossroads Visitor Center at 9 a.m.
Work will be on the 1860’s medicinal garden to clean the garden and plant herbs and other plants that would have been used during the Civil War period.
General clearing of trash, fallen limbs, and other debris will occur around the Union Burial Site.
Another project will be to clean the interpretive signs along the walking trails.
Volunteers will receive a Park Day t-shirt and a member of the Parker’s Crossroads Battlefield Association will speak about the history of the battlefield and the preservation efforts. Most importantly, volunteers will be helping save history in their own community.
Be sure to wear heavy duty clothing, work boots/shoes, and gloves.
Snacks, water, and coffee will be provided.

VALE COMMUNITY CENTER ST. PATRICK’S CELEBRATION
The Vale Community Center is hosting a “Luck of the Irish – St. Patrick’s Celebration” on Saturday, March 17 at the center located at 26165 Highway 114 north of Hollow Rock from 3-7 p.m. Come join the fun and enjoy the delicious Irish stew, bread, dessert and drink for only $7. MISS HOPE 2018 PAGEANT
The Miss Hope 2018 pageant to benefit Carroll County Relay For Life is Saturday, April 7 in the Huntingdon Middle School cafetorium at 199 Browning Avenue, Huntingdon. Doors open at 1 p.m.; pageant begins at 2 p.m. with the 0-12 month group. Following will be 13-23 months, 2-3 years, 4-5 years, 6-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-15 years and 16-21 years. The beauty pageant is $20; additional categories (Best Dressed, Prettiest Hair and Prettiest Smile) are $5 each. Enter all categories for $30. Contestants are asked to be dressed and ready ten minutes prior to your group time. Queens in each category over 6 years qualify for the 2018 Strawberry Festival. All festival rules apply.
