SPRING BARN SALE, BRIDAL CONSIGNMENT

A Spring Arts & Crafts Barn Sale and Bridal Consignment is Saturday and Sunday, March 1718 at The Venue at Waddell Place, 894 Joy Sparks Rd, McKenzie. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. (Bridal Consignment is Sunday only) Admission is $5 Saturday and $3 Sunday; kids 10 and under will be admitted for free. There will be bouncy houses on Saturday.

The indoor/outdoor event includes arts and crafts, vintage goods, boutique clothing, bridal consignment items, food, music and fun for the whole family!

GLEASON SCHOOL PAGEANTS

March 17 is the date of the Little Mr. and Miss Gleason, 5 p.m., Junior Miss Gleason, 6 p.m., Miss Gleason, 7 p.m. at the Dudley Sanders Memorial Gym at Gleason School. Entry fee is $25, application deadline is March 9. Applications are available at the school office.

MCKENZIE INDUSTRIAL BOARD MEETS SPECIAL TIME

McKenzie Industrial Board meets Tuesday, March 20, 6 p.m. in the former railroad depot.

MCKENZIE SCHOOL BEAUTY REVIEWS

McKenzie Little Mr. and Miss is Friday, March 16, and Junior Miss and Miss McKenzie pageants are Saturday, March 17. Both nights are 7 p.m. at MHS Theatre.

WEST CARROLL PROJECT GRADUATION 5K RUN

West Carroll’s Project Graduation 5K run is March 17, 9 a.m. Also, a one-mile fun run will be held. For more info, call 731415-0637.

HOLLOW ROCK FIRE STATION AUCTION AND SUPPER

Hollow Rock Fire Station #2, 21280 Seminary Street, is April 14, with hamburgers, hot dogs, chili at 4 p.m. and auction at 6 p.m., including furniture, tools, household items, etc.

SENATOR STEVENS TOWN HALL ON SCHOOL SAFETY

Senator John Stevens is hosting a town hall meeting on school safety at The Dixie Performing Arts Center on March 15, 7 p.m. In light of developments of the past few weeks, the senator is inviting parents, teachers, and other concerned citizens to join a group of community and school officials to have an open discussion on student safety. Current school policies will be discussed and opinion on policies going forward will be a topic of discussion.

WEST CARROLL BOARD TO HOLD MEETING ON SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER

West Carroll School Board is holding a meeting on March 22, 6 p.m. at the central office in Atwood. On the agenda is the discussion and possible discussion of a school resource officer (police officer) for the school. Also, the board will discuss, approve Destination Imagination to to attend competitions and conferences.

5K RUN/WALK FOR ROCKY BOLEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

A 5K run/walk is Saturday, March 31, beginning at 9 a.m. to benefit the Rocky Bolen Memorial Scholarship Fund. Bolen was a Huntingdon student who drowned. Early fee is $20 per participant. LAVINIA BAPTIST EGG HUNT

Lavinia Baptist Church in Lavinia is hosting a hotdog lunch at noon, and an egg hunt at 2 p.m. on March 31. Everyone is invited.

OLD UNION CEMETERY ANNUAL MEETING AND CLEANING

Friends will gather Saturday, March 10, 9 a.m. or rain date of March 17 to work at the cemetery. Donations can be mailed to Old Union Cemetery, c/o Billy Phelps, 835 Ross Rd., McKenzie, 38201.

PARKER’S CROSSROADS BATTLEFIELD WORK DAY IS APRIL 7

The Parker’s Crossroads Battlefield Association and the Civil War Trust are planning April 7, 2018 for Park Day, a day of hands-on historic preservation and volunteering.

Volunteers will meet at the Parker’s Crossroads Visitor Center at 9 a.m.

Work will be on the 1860’s medicinal garden to clean the garden and plant herbs and other plants that would have been used during the Civil War period.

General clearing of trash, fallen limbs, and other debris will occur around the Union Burial Site.

Another project will be to clean the interpretive signs along the walking trails.

Volunteers will receive a Park Day t-shirt and a member of the Parker’s Crossroads Battlefield Association will speak about the history of the battlefield and the preservation efforts. Most importantly, volunteers will be helping save history in their own community.

Be sure to wear heavy duty clothing, work boots/shoes, and gloves.

Snacks, water, and coffee will be provided.

VALE COMMUNITY CENTER ST. PATRICK’S CELEBRATION

The Vale Community Center is hosting a “Luck of the Irish – St. Patrick’s Celebration” on Saturday, March 17 at the center located at 26165 Highway 114 north of Hollow Rock from 3-7 p.m. Come join the fun and enjoy the delicious Irish stew, bread, dessert and drink for only $7. Children ten and under eat for half price. Music will be provided by A Touch of Grey. Wear green to be eligible for door prizes. All proceeds benefit the community center upkeep. MISS HOPE 2018 PAGEANT

The Miss Hope 2018 pageant to benefit Carroll County Relay For Life is Saturday, April 7 in the Huntingdon Middle School cafetorium at 199 Browning Avenue, Huntingdon. Doors open at 1 p.m.; pageant begins at 2 p.m. with the 0-12 month group. Following will be 13-23 months, 2-3 years, 4-5 years, 6-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-15 years and 16-21 years. The beauty pageant is $20; additional categories (Best Dressed, Prettiest Hair and Prettiest Smile) are $5 each. Enter all categories for $30. Contestants are asked to be dressed and ready ten minutes prior to your group time. Queens in each category over 6 years qualify for the 2018 Strawberry Festival. All festival rules apply. MACEDONIA COMMUNITY CAKEWALK

Macedonia Community Center Cakewalk is March 23, 7 p.m. Food is available at 5:30 including hotdogs and hamburgers. Cakewalk tickets are $5.

GOSPEL SINGING

A gospel singing at Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church is Sunday, March 18, 5 p.m. featuring The Joylanders. There will be a free-will offering.

MCKENZIE PLANNING COMMISSION AGENDA MEETING

McKenzie Municipal-Regional Planning Commission’s agenda meeting is Thursday, March 15, 3 p.m. at City Hall.

NORTHWEST TENNESSEE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO MEET

The Board of Directors of Northwest Tennessee Economic Development Council holds its regularly scheduled quarterly meeting Friday, March 16 at 10 a.m. at the Northwest TN Head Start/Early Head Start Central Office at 938C Walnut Avenue West, McKenzie.

MCKENZIE-CARROLL COUNTY UNITED NEIGHBORS

United Neighbors is accepting summer clothing at this time. Please be sure those are clean and in good condition. If the bin is full, please take items to other donation boxes.

Food: crackers, cereal, ravioli, spaghetti noodles, and evaporated milk.

Personal Hygiene: Deodorant, toothpaste and brushes, bar soap and shampoo.

Assistance and shopping are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Wednesday. The store is closed Wednesday afternoon and Friday-Sunday.

Come to the McKenzie Farmers Market, 2451 Cedar Street, every Monday at 6 p.m. for Ping Pong. Beginners and experts are welcome, just show up with a paddle. There is no cost.

OVERCOMERS SUPPORT GROUP

Overcomers is a support group to help individuals and families overcome and manage addiction, anger, depression, codependency and alcoholism.
