Grandchild of Locals to Compete in National, World Competitions

Ava Abbott, 8-year-old daughter of Matt & Christi Abbott of Dunlap, Tennessee, and her competitive cheer team Diamond Elite, will compete for the National Cheer Competition title in Pensacola in April and for the World Cheer title in May at Disney World. The team captured two Grand Championships so far this year in Knoxville and Nashville. The Diamonds were also awarded the Best Tumbling Team trophy at the Nashville.

Ava’s parents, Matt and Christi, are Carroll County natives. Matt is formerly from Bruceton and Christi is the former Christi Coleman of Huntingdon. Ava’s grandparents are Marcia Coleman of Huntingdon, Ricky Coleman and Kay Anderson of McKenzie, and Lori and Davis Rash of Greenfield. Great-granddad is Gordon Coleman of McKenzie.
