BANKING ON A CURE 5K
Centennial Bank presents Banking on a Cure 5K to benefit Relay for Life team. The 5K is Saturday, April 14 at 8 a.m. at McKenzie City Park, 570 Como St., McKenzie. Registration begins at 7 a.m. Entry fee is $20 per adult and $15 per children 12 and under. TOUCHDOWN CLUB MEETING
The Touchdown Club meets for its first meeting of 2018 Sunday, April 15 at 3 p.m. in the High School Library. During this meeting, we will elect officers for the 2018-2019 school year. Only current members of the Touchdown Club are eligible to vote. If you are not a current member, you may join for a $25 fee. All parents of both Middle and High School players, cheer parents, and community members that are interested in supporting the Touchdown Club are invited and encouraged to join.
MISS SOUTHERN BELLE, LITTLE BEAU PAGEANT
The Southern Fried Food and Sweet Tea Festival’s Miss Southern Belle and Little Beau Pageant is Saturday, April 14 at the McKenzie High School theatre. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the pageant start at 10 a.m. The competition is open to all counties; winners qualify for the Strawberry Festival Pageant. Age divisions are 0-12 months (10 a.m.), 13-23 months (10:30 a.m.), 2-3 years (11 a.m.), 4-5 years (11:30 a.m.), 6-9 years (Noon), 10-12 years (12:30 p.m.), 13-15 years (1 p.m.) and 16-21 years (1:30 p.m.). Attire is Sunday best/pageant wear. Optional side categories are Brightest Smile, Prettiest Hair and Flair for Fashion. Fee is $25; $5 each for optional categories. For two siblings, entry with all optional categories is $50; for three or more siblings, $90.
BAND NIGHT WITH THE TRAILBLAZERS
A band night with the Trailblazers is Thursday, April 12 at the Carroll County Civic Center. The night begins at 6 p.m. with a finger food meal. The Carroll County Purchasing Committee meets Tuesday, April 17, 9 a.m. in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex. The committee will discuss bids for a new box truck for the Recycling Center. The public is invited to attend.

BINGO: Friday, April 13 from 6-9 p.m. at the Carroll Bank & Trust community building in Huntingdon. 50 cent bingo games, prizes, food and a $100 gift card to Walmart as the grand prize. Max’s BBQ will be served. There will be BBQ Chicken plates, BBQ rib plates and BBQ sandwich plates. Each plate includes potato salad, beans, mayo cole slaw and a bun. All plates are $10 each which includes a drink. Desserts are $2 each, plus the usual candies and goodies you can buy. There will be a raffle for an animal-themed quilt that night (do not have to be present to win) as well as a basket of doggie goodies.
Third Annual Pet Fest: Hooks Pet Clinic in Martin will host their annual event to benefit the Carroll County Humane Society on Saturday, April 21, 8-4 at 296 Highway 431 in Martin. There will be a 5K, 1 mile walk, silent auction, bake sale, Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream & Highway 45 BBQ 11-4 and a live band, Hillbilly Funk 11-4. All proceeds for the day will go to CCHS. WEST CARROLL FFA TO HOST PLANT SALE
April 20-21, 2018 the West Carroll FFA will be having its annual plant sale at the school’s greenhouse from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Hanging baskets are $10 each or 3 for $25, 6-inch pots are $5 each or 5 for $20, and vegetable starters are $.50 each. Plants include: petunias, inpatients, verbenas, coleus, elephant ears, hibiscus, canna lily, begonia, and Gerber daises. The WC FCCLA will also sell BBQ lunches starting at 10 a.m.
REACH THE BEACH 5K WALK-RUN

CCHS LOW-COST CAT SPAY, NEUTER VOUCHERS
The Carroll County Humane Society provides low-cost cat spay/neuter vouchers for $35. Come by the shelter 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. til 2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Call Paris Vet Clinic and set up your appointment. Take your cats in one morning and they come home the same day! That’s all there is to it.
Here’s all the information you need about these vouchers: Your city of residence or income doesn’t matter—anybody can buy these vouchers. You can buy as many as you need. All vouchers must be used at Paris Vet Clinic. Vouchers expire one month from purchase. You can use these for your cat or the neighborhood stray. You can buy the vouchers for others to use for their cats. This is an ongoing program. Cats just need to weigh two pounds, which is usually at around eight weeks of age.
