HUNTINGDON SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET

The Huntingdon Board of Education meets Thursday, May 17 at 7 a.m. at the superintendent’s office at 585 High Street, Huntingdon.

CARROLL COUNTY BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES TO MEET

The regular monthly meeting for the Carroll County Board of Public Utilities is Thursday, May 24 at 2:30 p.m. in the office of the Carroll County Electric Department at 103 W. Paris Street, Huntingdon.

MPD ‘CLICK IT OR TICKET’ MOBILIZATION

As summer kicks off and families hit the road for vacation, the McKenzie Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) to remind motorists to “Click It or Ticket.” From May 21 to June 3, participating agencies across the state will increase seat belt enforcement as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) nationwide mobilization.

911 BUDGET COMMITTEE TO MEET

The Carroll County Emergency Communications Budget Committee meets Thursday, May 17, 5:30 at 101 Dillahunty Lane, Huntingdon.

FREE VETERANS BREAKFAST

All veterans are invited to a breakfast at the McKenzie Senior Citizens Center on Sunday, May 27, 7 a.m. sponsored by the McKenzie American Legion.

BLOODMOBILE

Huntingdon Health and Rehab is hosting Lifeline Blood Services on Thursday, May 17, 1 to 5 p.m.

CARROLL COUNTY PURCHASING COMMITTEE

The county’s Purchasing Committee meets Wednesday, May 16, 9 a.m. in the Conference Room at 625 High Street, Huntingdon. The purpose of the meeting is to open bids to relocate radio equipment to the new emergency operations center.

MCKENZIE TOUCHDOWN CLUB STEAK SANDWICHES

Modern Woodmen of America, Chapter 13449 is sponsoring a matching funds event on Friday, May 18 at Save-A-Lot in McKenzie, 10 a.m to 2 p.m. it is a ribeye steak sandwich and drink for $7 to benefit McKenzie Touchdown Club. MCKENZIE TOUCHDOWN CLUB MEETS MONTHLY

The McKenzie Touchdown Club meets the first Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m. in the high school Library. The meeting is open to anyone in the community interested in supporting the football programs at the middle and high school.

TREZEVANT BALL DAY

Saturday, May 19 is “ball day” at the West Carroll Elementary School ballfield, 9 a.m .to 1 p.m. There was ball games, a carnival, and petting zoo. The is no admission charge for the ball games, however, there is a $12 admission fee to the carnival and petting zoo.

MT. NEBO – HOLLOW ROCK TO CELEBRATE NEW CHURCH

Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 325 Holcomb Street, Hollow Rock, invites everyone to a church dedication service on Friday, May 18, 7 p.m. The celebration continues on Saturday, May 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a gospel singing at 5 p.m. A Homecoming celebration is Sunday, May 20, 10 a.m.

CCHS LOW-COST CAT SPAY, NEUTER VOUCHERS

The Carroll County Humane Society provides low-cost cat spay/neuter vouchers for $35.00. Come by the shelter 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Call Paris Vet Clinic and set up your appointment. Take your cats in one morning and they come home the same day! That’s all there is to it.

Here’s all the information you need about these vouchers: Your city of residence or income doesn’t matter—anybody can buy these vouchers. You can buy as many as you need. All vouchers must be used at Paris Vet Clinic. Vouchers expire one month from purchase. You can use these for your cat or the neighborhood stray. You can buy the vouchers for others to use for their cats. This is an ongoing program. Cats just need to weigh two pounds, which is usually at around eight weeks of age.

CUMBERLAND PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IRIS RHIZOMES FUNDRAISER

The Cumberland Presbyterian Church is selling iris rhizomes to benefit the building fund. Rhizomes are $4 each or $3 each if you buy 10 or more. Rhizomes are located at 65 Taylor Rd., McKenzie. For more information, call 731-352-3252.

MCKENZIE- CARROLL COUNTY UNITED NEIGHBORS

United Neighbors is accepting summer clothing at this time. Please be sure those are clean and in good condition. If the bin is full, please take items to other donation boxes.

Food: crackers, cereal, ravioli, spaghetti noodles, and evaporated milk.

Personal Hygiene: Deodorant, toothpaste and brushes, bar soap and shampoo.

Assistance and shopping are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Wednesday. The store is closed Wednesday afternoon and Friday-Sunday.

Call 352-0547 with any questions. Donation hours: during store hours. Please no glass or boxes in the bin. Do not leave items outside!

The Johnson Temple C.M.E. Church hosts a Prayer Summit each Thursday at 5 p.m. Join to pray for unity, love and peace in our communities, our nation and the world.

WATER AEROBICS IS BACK

Water Aerobics at Bethel Pool is Tuesday and Thursday, noon to 1 p.m.

OVERFLOW CHURCH PICNIC AT THE PARK

The Overflow Church is having at picnic at the Mulberry Park every first Saturday of the month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be free lunch, clothes, and books.

LONG HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH PERISHABLE FOOD GIVEAWAY

Long Heights Baptist Church Perishable Food Giveaways are on the second and fourth Wednesday night each month at 8 p.m. at the church located at 260 Old Paris Road in McKenzie.

MCKENZIE INDUSTRIAL BOARD MEETS MONTHLY

McKenzie Industrial Board meets the second Tuesday of each month, 6 p.m., in the former railroad depot building.
