PROMISE VBS AT MULBERRY

Promise Vacation Bible School, “Excavate – Discovering the Treasures of Jesus,” is June 10 at Mulberry Park in McKenzie from 3-7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Blooming Grove United Methodist Church, Greater Enon M.B. Church, Friendly Church of God in Christ, First United Methodist – McKenzie, Johnson Temple CME and Liberty United Methodist.

JOHNSON TEMPLE EVENTS

Johnson Temple will sell BBQ Philly Steak and BBQ Nachos on Friday, May 25 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Steak is $8; nachos are $7.

A pancake breakfast is Saturday, May 26 from 8-11 a.m., with pancakes, sausage, bacon and eggs for $6.

VBS AT FIRST BAPTIST–BRUCETON

First Baptist Church – Bruceton, 30960 Broad Street, hosts Vacation Bible School Monday, June 4 through Thursday, June 7 from 6-8 p.m. and on Sunday, June 10 during morning services. Children will be served dinner each night. You can register online at www.firstbaptistbruceton. com or June 4.

MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM AT LIBERTY ALL

The annual Memorial Day program at Liberty All United Methodist Church, 2415 Old Stage Road, Huntingdon, is Sunday, May 27 at 10:45 a.m. Randy McCadams of McKenzie is the guest speaker. Patriotic music will be presented by Megan Arnett, Barbara Bennett and members of the Huntingdon High School Band. All veterans present will be recognized, then the names of the 71 veterans buried at Liberty All will be read and flags placed on those graves. The program concludes with Taps played by Tizzy Smith. Everyone is invited.

MPD ‘CLICK IT OF TICKET’ MOBILIZATION

As summer kicks off and families hit the road for vacation, the McKenzie Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) to remind motorists to “Click It or Ticket.” From May 21 to June 3, participating agencies across the state will increase seat belt enforcement as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) nationwide mobilization.

CARROLL COUNTY BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES TO MEET

The regular monthly meeting for the Carroll County Board of Public Utilities is Thursday, May 24 at 2:30 p.m. in the office of the Carroll County Electric Department at 103 W. Paris Street, Huntingdon.

RETIREMENT CELEBRATION FOR BROTHER WAYNE BURTON

A retirement celebration for Brother Wayne Burton is Sunday, May 27 at Faith in Christ Ministries in Huntingdon. Service begins at 11 a.m. with songs and a brief message, followed by presentations and a fellowship meal.

SCOTT FAMILY REUNION

If you are a friend of family of the Scotts or knew them from the 19th District of Carroll County of from the Big Buck or Jerrell Switch area or attended Wilders School, you are invited to a reunion on Sunday, June 3 at McKenzie City Park in the recreational barn from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be food, fellowship and country and Gospel music by the Scotts. Bring your favorite food, which will be served around noon. Enjoy a day of reminiscing old times!

OLIVE BRANCH CHURCH HOMECOMING

Homecoming at Olive Branch Church, three miles north of Como on Highway 140, is Sunday, May 27. Service is at 11 a.m.; a potluck meal is at noon. Fairview Quartet will perform at 1:30 p.m.

BARRS CHAPEL CME CHURCH HOMECOMING

Barrs Chapel C.M.E. Church, 5560 Briarpatch Lake Road, Paris, near Como, is hosting its annual homecoming celebration on Sunday, May 27.

Sunday School begins at 10 a.m. followed by the morning worship at 11 a.m. A lunch will be served.

At 3 p.m., the church family welcomes Bishop C.E. Pipkin and the congregation of Mt. Ararat CME Church of Trezevant. Brother Pipkin will be the guest speaker.

Reverend Robert H. Johnson is the pastor.

FREE VETERANS BREAKFAST

All veterans are invited to a breakfast at the McKenzie Senior Citizens Center on Sunday, May 27, 7 a.m. sponsored by the McKenzie American Legion.

CCHS LOW-COST CAT SPAY, NEUTER VOUCHERS

The Carroll County Humane Society provides low-cost cat spay/neuter vouchers for $35.00. Come by the shelter 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Call Paris Vet Clinic and set up your appointment. Take your cats in one morning and they come home the same day! That’s all there is to it.

Here’s all the information you need about these vouchers: Your city of residence or income doesn’t matter—anybody can buy these vouchers. You can buy as many as you need. All vouchers must be used at Paris Vet Clinic. Vouchers expire one month from purchase. You can use these for your cat or the neighborhood stray. You can buy the vouchers for others to use for their cats. This is an ongoing program. Cats just need to weigh two pounds, which is usually at around eight weeks of age.

WEBB ALUMNI MUSEUM

Webb High School Alumni, Inc. and the Webb High School Alumni Museum Committee welcome all to visit the museum at 938 West Walnut Ave., McKenzie, open every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or by appointment.

JOHNSON TEMPLE C.M.E. CHURCH PRAYER SUMMIT

The Johnson Temple C.M.E. Church hosts a Prayer Summit each Thursday at 5 p.m. Join to pray for unity, love and peace in our communities, our nation and the world.

WATER AEROBICS IS BACK

Water Aerobics at Bethel Pool is Tuesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to noon (summer hours).

MCKENZIE- CARROLL COUNTY UNITED NEIGHBORS

United Neighbors is accepting summer clothing at this time. Please be sure those are clean and in good condition. If the bin is full, please take items to other donation boxes.

Food: crackers, cereal, ravioli, spaghetti noodles, and evaporated milk.

Personal Hygiene: Deodorant, toothpaste and brushes, bar soap and shampoo.

Assistance and shopping are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Wednesday. The store is closed Wednesday afternoon and Friday-Sunday.

Call 352-0547 with any questions. Donation hours: during store hours. Please no glass or boxes in the bin. Do not leave items outside!

MCKENZIE TOUCHDOWN CLUB MEETS MONTHLY

The McKenzie Touchdown Club meets the first Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m. in the high school Library. The meeting is open to anyone in the community interested in supporting the football programs at the middle and high school.

LONG HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH PERISHABLE FOOD GIVEAWAY

Long Heights Baptist Church Perishable Food Giveaways are on the second and fourth Wednesday night each month at 8 p.m. at the church located at 260 Old Paris Road in McKenzie.

OVERFLOW CHURCH PICNIC AT THE PARK

The Overflow Church is having at picnic at the Mulberry Park every first Saturday of the month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be free lunch, clothes, and books.

MCKENZIE INDUSTRIAL BOARD MEETS MONTHLY

McKenzie Industrial Board meets the second Tuesday of each month, 6 p.m., in the former railroad depot building.
