MHS SOFTBALL TRYOUTS

McKenzie High School Softball tryouts are July 10 and 12 from 9-11 a.m. at the McKenzie City Park. These tryouts are open to students currently enrolled in MHS for the 2018-2019 school year. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Kristi Brown at brownk9@mckenzieschools. org.

AREA LIFELINE BLOOD DRIVES

Lifeline Blood Services will conduct upcoming community blood drives at the following locations: Saturday, July 7 — Fred’s Super Dollar, McKenzie from Noon-6 p.m.

Tuesday, July 24 — LifeCare, Bruceton from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

All blood donors in June, July and August receive a t-shirt and may register to win a Polaris Ranger 500 from Bob’s House of Honda.

CARROLL ARTS CREATIVITY CAMP

Carroll Arts’ annual Creativity Camp for Carroll County elementary and middle school students is Monday, July 9-Friday, July 13 from 1-4 p.m. daily at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie. The camp features activities in Art, Music, Drama and Creative Writing. Snacks will be provided. New registration begins July 9 at noon. GENIA SHERWOOD’S SCHOOL OF DANCE REGISTRATION

Registration for Genia Sherwood’s School of Dance 2018 season is Thursday, July 19 and Tuesday, July 24 from 3-7 p.m. The school features Tap, Ballet, Jazz and Pointe for ages four and up. The studio is located behind Adrian’s Car Stereo on Highland Drive in McKenzie. Call 731-3525682.

ONE NIGHT REVIVAL

The Friendly Church of God in Christ, 833 W. Walnut St., McKenzie, will have a one night revival Tuesday, July 3 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Jim Flatt from Murray, Kentucky. The public is invited.

MCLEMORESVILLE FOURTH OF JULY EVENTS

Fourth of July events begin Wednesday in McLemoresville with the Hamburger Wagon opening at 4 p.m., offering hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, drinks and homemade ice cream. The parade will begin at 6 p.m.; lineup is at 5:30 p.m. Following the parade is a cake walk and a street dance with The Longshot Band. Fireworks begin at dark.

ICE CREAM FUNDRAISER

Friendly Church of God in Christ, 833 W. Walnut St., McKenzie, will have an ice cream fundraiser Saturday, July 7 beginning at 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall. The public is invited. For more details, call Sister Maggie Jones at 731-418-1661.

SUMMER ARTS, CRAFTS FESTIVAL, FARMERS MARKET

A Summer Arts & Crafts Festival and Farmers Market at The Venue at Waddell Place, 894 Joy Sparks Road, McKenzie: Ladies night is Friday, July 13 from 5-8 p.m. Admission is $10, which includes early shopping, red carpet photos, free drink from the bar, appetizers and door prize drawings. Main event is Saturday, July 14 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is $5 and kids under 10 are free. Kids activities available!

WATSON- DYER FAMILY REUNION

A family reunion for John Westly Watson and Elizabeth Dyer is Saturday, July 21 at Gleason Community Building by the park in Gleason at 2 p.m.

WESTPORT MBC REVIVAL

Westport MBC will have revival Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6. Services are at 10:30 a.m.and 7 p.m. Bro. Chris Wallace is the pastor, and Bro. Jeff Simmons will be the guest evangelist. We would love for you to worship with us.

Vacation Bible School, “Gear Up, Get Ready, Game On,” at Faith Baptist Church, 125 Wall Street, Hollow Rock, is Sunday, July 15 through Thursday, July 19 from 6-8 p.m. each night. CARROLL COUNTY OFFICE ON AGING YOGA WORKSHOP

Carroll County Office on Aging presents a Yoga 101 Workshop: Introduction to Yoga, Heart – Soul – Mind – Strength. Class taught by: Sandy Carnes-Soto, Certified Yoga Instructor. In this four-class workshop, you’ll experience and learn the basics of: Yoga Terminology; Breath Work; Instruction of Primary Poses; and Gentle Yoga Class. Cost: $25. ITT MILAN FORMER EMPLOYEE REUNION

T.A.R.P. Center for Independent Living’s annual Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Celebration, featuring an ice cream social and silent auction, is Saturday, July 14 at 2 p.m. at 1027 Mineral Wells Ave. #7, Paris.

CCHS LOW-COST CAT SPAY, NEUTER VOUCHERS

The Carroll County Humane Society provides low-cost cat spay/neuter vouchers for $35.00. Come by the shelter 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Call Paris Vet Clinic and set up your appointment. Take your cats in one morning and they come home the same day! That’s all there is to it.

Here’s all the information you need about these vouchers: Your city of residence or income doesn’t matter—anybody can buy these vouchers. You can buy as many as you need. All vouchers must be used at Paris Vet Clinic. Vouchers expire one month from purchase. You can use these for your cat or the neighborhood stray. You can buy the vouchers for others to use for their cats. This is an ongoing program. Cats just need to weigh two pounds, which is usually at around eight weeks of age.

FAMILY DANCE AT DRESDEN AMERICAN LEGION

American Legion Post 94, 8288 Highway 22, Dresden will host a family dance (no alcohol) every Friday from 7-10 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Entry is $6 per person.

MCKENZIE TOUCHDOWN CLUB MEETS MONTHLY

The McKenzie Touchdown Club meets the first Wednesday of every month at 8 p.m. in the high school Library. The meeting is open to anyone in the community interested in supporting the football programs at the middle and high school.

MCKENZIE FARMERS MARKET

The McKenzie Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 8 a.m.-noon. Fresh produce, baked goods, homemade items and more are sold each week.

OVERFLOW CHURCH PICNIC AT THE PARK

The Overflow Church is having at picnic at the Mulberry Park every first Saturday of the month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be free lunch, clothes, and books.

LONG HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH PERISHABLE FOOD GIVEAWAY

Long Heights Baptist Church Perishable Food Giveaways are on the second and fourth Wednesday night each month at 8 p.m. at the church located at 260 Old Paris Road in McKenzie.

MCKENZIE INDUSTRIAL BOARD MEETS MONTHLY

McKenzie Industrial Board meets the second Tuesday of each month, 6 p.m., in the former railroad depot building.

MCKENZIE-CARROLL COUNTY UNITED NEIGHBORS

United Neighbors is accepting summer clothing at this time. Please be sure those are clean and in good condition. If the bin is full, please take items to other donation boxes.

Food: crackers, cereal, ravioli, spaghetti noodles, and evaporated milk.

Personal Hygiene: Deodorant, toothpaste and brushes, bar soap and shampoo.

Assistance and shopping are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Wednesday. The store is closed Wednesday afternoon and Friday-Sunday.

Call 352-0547 with any questions. Donation hours: during store hours. Please no glass or boxes in the bin. Do not leave items outside!
